Northern Lights. Any growers previously / currently flowering any? Anyone like to share some info / personal experience with this long standing classic? Any comments / details appreciated.

Whats the biggest NL plant you've grown, any monsters. How smelly is it. Did it give you a Rash. How do you rate the smoke. Easy to rear. Growers hints / tips. Quickest / Longest finisher? Female percentage. The joys of Northern Lights??? unsure.gif

Got mine 2 wks into flower. Looks really nice as a plant and the pistils are popping out everywhere and have had no rashes or anything like that. Just gotta wait around another 6 wks to sample it

its got a very particular taste. its great for a couple of years, but then like an over played tune....
Its the only weed i just dont like anymore. every now n then i come back for more, then realise my opinions un-changed

its a good beginners crop though. you can get away with a lot of problems. its strong and distinctive, and yeilds consistantly.

the only problem i can see is that its a seed-bank strain. I give up on seedbank. time n time again they have sold crap. its not been the same since there opperations became illegal in holand. now its all old stock or hashed together like before, but with no testing or refinement. just blind crossing of the known parents it would seem. I dont have time to waste on them. growing out two packs at a time looking for a single female aint funny. complete rooms of males and hermies is no fun either. I wouldn't give them my money. a slap maybe?

Off the NL subject for a few seconds FE. Do you think it would make a difference buying from Canadian Seed Banks as a pose to Dutch / European Banks.

Thanks for you info on NL by the way. Helpful.

the canadians have it?
sorry, i thought it was predomenently a sensi strain. I dont like the fact i cant recommend the sensi seed bank as they were a major driving force behind our hobbie/community but if you can get it elsewhere, thats what i would do.

the times 5 haze is a totally different animal. its a jack n the beanstalk strain. more haze domanent than indica. most northern grower want the northern for very different reasons to the 5 haze version growers. 6 weeks or 12? 4 foot or 40? lol.gif

edit: the haze/northern pairing can be easily influenced by light hour manipulation.

Northern Lights - good for beginners it says - flowering about 45-50 days it says - just the ticket for Christmas, says I - forked out 75 simolians inc P&P I did- not a fucking thing - never even cracked. Nice smoke if you can get it - won't be trying them again anytime soon, nor the particular seedbank from whence they came, nor the company who sold them to me...

Yep I feel what your saying m8, so far im into day nine post planting and all I have is one outta eight germinated. Hopefully its a girl and she'll grow to be my source of cuttings.
Besides the bad points of any seed bank, anyone got anything good to say....??? huh.gif

Cant really discuss seedbanks in this forum M8. But at the moment i would suggest none, as all european banks seem to be suffering from shite QC at the moment.
I'd keep a look out for cuts, if your considering a go....

currently growing original northern lights got 8 out of 10 cuttings left all coming on very nicely took a while to take root cause the mother must of been just in flower had little pistles coming out. started on 24 hours light for 4 weeks took just over two weeks to root properly but maybe my conditions where not as great as they are now but i have got some smell even as i am vegging them out what sort of size would be good to get these girls to get a good yeild out of them i have them under 600 watts of evirolite currently i would like to know when to stop vegging as i have got about 6 foot height.also i have them in a wilma 10 pot system on canna vega ph is about 5.8 to 6.2 also in canna clay pebbles temps are 26.6 on 21 or 22 off sometimes goes upto 29 but very rarely. i have read the plants are usally grown to 90 cm and people are getting 160grams per plant but i seem to find that hard to belive for something that is less them a metre height but this is my first indoor grow hydro and i am shocked at the speed of growth from change from soil to hydro.getting back to the point of when to stop vegging how much more does a nl plant grow when you turn your lights over to 12/12 cause i dont want to feel like i am not growing these babys right and getting a bad yeild also i must add i have 1100 watts of envirolights for flowering i have one quad bulb reflector and 3 single reflectors for placing around my grow when i start to flower i will post some pics soon and start a grow diary to but i have all the pics from day one setting up the room to today i hape i aint bored anyone to much but its easier to explain to people that are in the same boat and after all this thread is all about northern lights lol.gif thanks in advance
