I cant remember when I started my grow, I think it was sometime in june. What had
happened was I'd found a seed in a bag I had bought out of desperation cos my usual
supplier was away. I had put the seed in a pot I was growing sunflowers in, just to see
what would happen. Anyway, it started to grow, and grow and grow, when it had got
to about 4" tall I put it in a pot of its own in a childs plastic greenhouse in my
garden.
After a few weeks I changed to a bigger pot, and so it grew some more.
After a few more weeks the leaves were pressed up against the sides of the mini
greenhouse so I went out and bought a bigger one, only a 4.99 metal framed plastic
one from poundstretcher.
I have taken pictures regularly, at first I had thought nothing of it all, presuming
nothing would come of that seed, now i have quite a large plant at 31" tall and 28"
wide. The greenhouse gets direct sunlight from around noon onwards. The shelf the
plant is on is about 14" off the ground with a thick layer of cardboard and a
newspaper to protect from the cold nights weve been havin this week.
I did have a problem with something eating the leaves (slugs and snails?) but since
putting broken eggshell in the pot that has stopped. I do have a few yellow spots on
some of the older leaves at the bottom of the plant but am presuming thats where
they had got wet when I had been watering it, it doesnt look like a problem and
doesnt apear to be spreading to other leaves.
I think it may be a female plant, there are little tongues around the thick stem at the
base of leaf stalks.
As far as nutrients, food and all that goes, all its had is a mixture of tap and bottled
water and has been fed with asda plant food twice in the last week.
I'm also growing some pea's up the front of the greenhouse to camoflage it a bit without blocking off too much sunlight.
I'd be grateful for any tips anyone can give me on how to look after and make the most of this plant.
Cheers

If it hasn't started to flower already - I'd think about giving it a hand ....
12 hours TOTAL of darkness every day - and you should start to see some bud sites.
If you can get some decent food that would help - Biobizz grow & bloom being a good option.
- Sounds like you're doing ok tho ...

Nice one. My Indica grow
http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=88927 had a lot of new growth at the very start of flowering. I would say don't worry about yellow leaves on the lower part of the plant. As it starts to flower, fan leaves anywhere but at the top of the plant aren't such a priority for the plant to maintain. I removed all lower growth points, leaves and all about 3 weeks ago to allow the plant to focus on the parts which might actually yield a smoke. I think this was the right thing to do,if not, hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along to set the record straight.
Good luck.

you will need to force flower this plant. it won't naturally finish before frosts i think. it's very sativa-looking. you need around 65-75 days flower and that puts us well into late november i believe. bring her inside every night, you'll get some smoke off it then

Unfortunatly I dont live close enough to just pop out and get some nutrients and feed and that, but I've found bio buzz on e-b-a-y, is it worth orderin from there or too dodgy?

Nice plant Ribbons, a credit to you. I'd be tempted, money allowing, to put her under flower indoors. Once you have grown and smoked your own you will find it hard to go back anyway

so you can look at the cost as an investment! Got an attic by any chance

I've thought about finishin off indoors, I've taken part in an indoor full hydroponic grow before but have a different set of circumstances now, the only indoor room avaliable is the cupboard under the stairs which is right in the living room, I have an attic but its a studio/office/workshop, shame really cos its got a crackin velux window that would have been ideal, but 3yr old kids fingers wouldnt be so good.
If possible I'd like to take this as far as I can outdoors, I'm already lookin at gettin a better greenhouse as I know she wont last long in this one and believe it or not its less likely to get mauled!!
Thanks for the tip on the shop for biobuzz, I'll be checkin that out later.
should I be puttin a black bin liner over her for the 12/12 light cycle? its about the only thing I've got avaliable.
Thanks to everyone for your help

Norfolk greehouses do a pvc plastic sheeted metal greenhouse for £130 for a 12 footer. Mines been fine for over 3 years now although I did lose some sheeting in a gale last winter, luckily it came with some spare! IMHO it would need a bubble wrap liner and a heater to take your plant to finish though. BTW do you have a crawl space in you attic? I have two bedrooms in mine but a crawl space thats 4.5" high max behind the low walls, thats where my growroom is.

OK, weve had a bit of a shit day today weather wise, I've decided to take the advice of a few of you and start bringin her indoors, and just for good measure put a big black binliner over her.
This is the first time she's been indoors, and i could definatly smell somethin wicked!! Here's hopin.
The house is one of these new ones, the attic space was built for livin in, not so much as a spare inch anywhere, altho there is a space high up in the hallway with access to another velux in, I'd need some bloody high ladders to even put a shelf in there let alone tend to a plant without gettin a nosebleed!!!
I've seen a walk in plastic greenhouse I fancy for just under 30 quid, its 5ftx5ftx6ft2" tall, The gardens not a bad size, but to get the best sun, out of prying eyes and out the rug monkey's way there's not really much spare, so that'll do me nicely, its got a green tinted cover too, even better.
Lovin your mesages of support and advice, hopefully one day I'll be able to do the same.
Cheers

Hi!
My first grow was an accident to!! I worked on a building site where 4 of us puffed all day long for a year. About June/July we noticed a plant growing out of a rubble pile, it was about 3' high at the time!
We were worried the Big boss would spot it but left it growing when one day I turned up after lunch to find police chatting 2 my mate at front of the site...at this point it Aug & was big! I pannicked, ripped plant up & hid it....
Chatted to police & they were there due to a robbery in area!!!
Got it in new ground at m8's house 1/2 hour later...it died a week later....
But a bit stayed green...
The dead bits fell of & it re grew...only 2' high but it flowered & got 10 grams off it!!!
was a bit shit as harvested 2 early....but good 4 free!!

Hello Cut2, really strange reading your diary mate in the sense i did something almost identical to you last year, heres a
Link to the tale i posted, i live in Lancashire myself you should be fine until the beginning/mid Oct, or until the first frosts, just keep your eye on the weather reports and they should be fine, its highly unlikely to be a sativa coming from dealer weed this doesnt add up maybe a chance its a hybrid, but either way mate it is going to be long haul, despite the crappy weather were having i would personally hold off bringing her indoors until the last minute, then somehow put her under one of the skylights or southfacing window if possible for the last month or so, if theres noway to do this cos of children etc then you will have to finish as what as been suggested, either way mate i wish you the best of luck and hope you can utilise the velux, i swear by em

Thanks for that bit of advice, I'll have a read thru your story and see if I can pick up some tips. Bein in the same area as me you'll know what todays wind has been like, around 9am this mornin the greenhouse started liftin in the wind so I thought it best to bring her indoors along with my bendy sunflowers. She's now got a nice spot in a corner by patio doors, they get most of the sunlight thru the day. I also had a bit of an accident, the weather was wild, I was tryin to hold the greenhouse flap open with one hand and pull the pot out at the same time and somethin went SNAP! The main stem from about 5" from the top got broken, not completly off, its skin wasnt broken, but if it had had a bone it would have been pokin thru! I've straightened her up and put a splint on (made out of an old rollin mat!) and now she's settlin into her new home with a 60w lamp on her (just until weather calms down long enough to nip out for an energy saver) and she's got a radio playin some classic rock radio station, she's currently gettin Deep Purple and WhiteSnake therapy.
Thanks to all who are sendin tips, everythin is greatly appreciated.

Evenin All,
We've had a few days of sunshine so I've had Marie outside for a few hours durin the day, round about teatime I bring her in and put her under the lightstick I made, its just 2 engergy saver bulbs (100w) in 2 clip on lamps clipped to a broom handle, no expense spared here!! I'm thinkin of makin this a mission to see how cheaply a grow can be done.
So far its cost:
Greenhouse 4.99
2 x clip on lamps 5.98
2 x energysaver bulbs 5.98
compost 1.99
pots (approx) 1.50
plant food 75p
------------------------
Total 21.19 ish...my maths is crap
Here's a few pics I took out in the sunshine yesterday...if anyone spots anythin wrong or somethin I've missed, dont be shy, speak up!!
Cheers

OK!
Managed to get motivated enough to clear out a space in the under stairs cupboard and made a poor mans growroom.
First I got a big box off a neighbour (free) then cut down one side to open it up a bit, I left the top and bottom flaps straight to give me a bit more height. Then lined it with tin foil (1.59, te*co express rip off twats!!!) and clipped the lights onto the top, and made a lid out of another bit of a box lined with foil.
She's still on a 12/12 light cycle and has been given a bit of Tomorite every other watering. The buds are startin to fluffy up a bit, had my doubts about those light bulbs but they seem to be doin the trick.
Some pics below of the room and Marie as she was this afternoon....Enjoy!

Hi Rainman
Thanks and good luck to you too!! She seems to be doin fine, theres lots of flowers all over and her leaves are right up when I go in to turn the lights off. She's takin in plenty of water, every other waterin she's gettin a dose of tomorite (just a little less than is recommended on the bottle cos I wasnt sure) still on a 12/12, do I keep it like that til the end?
I was a bit unsure about the lights myself when my mate told me about it, but for a few quid it was worth a try. I've noticed due to not much heat comin from the lights there's no where near as much smell comin from the room.
If it works out ok with these lights I might think about tryin a full grow in there with 2 or 4 plants.

Hi Rasta
My memories not what it should be and I keep forgettin to feed the tomorite, she's not had any for about 3 weeks, I was goin to add some the other day but I'd noticed the pistils turnin red/brown so thought best not to use any more.
I noticed last night theres a lot of spotty leaves, theyre only the big ones, the smaller leaves and the buds are fine, in fact the buds are very fine, they seem to look fatter and fatter as the days go on. At the moment there looks like roughly an oz on the whole plant, probably dry off to about a 20 bag if I'm lucky, but hey, its more than I thougt I'd get in the beginnin.
I heard or read somewhere that instead of choppin the plant to bits at crop time... to hang it upside down with the roots still on for a few days and that sends a bit extra THC back down to the buds, anyone else heard the same or think its worth a try?
