hi im growing 1 plant under a 250 watts hps in soil and for some stupid reason the light cycle is 16 on 8 off does this make much differnce from the 18/6, please dont ask why its like this just me not thinking straight as per usual would this cycle have any negitive affects on my plant or stop it from growing any faster and is it worth changing it to 18/6 as they been on the current cycle for 2 weeks now

cheers for any feed back

The natural length of days changes constantly throughout the year. Changing to 12/12 is merely to imitate the onset of winter. Therefore to keep them in veg you can run your lights anywhere between 24hrs on to around 16 hours on without inducing flowers. It just doesn't make any difference apart from with the leccy bill.

I think the plant would grow more under say 18 or 20 hours of light than it does under 16 .... if you wanted to up the daytime period it shouldnt do any harm ... just add an hour a day if you wanted to break them in gently wink1.gif 17 hours tomorrow, 18 hours the day after etc until you get your desired length of daytime period. I vegged mine on 18 hours a day ... the advantage for me on having a 6 hour night time period was I timed it so my plants were in night for 6 hours when it was the hottest part of the day outside 12pm till 6pm to try and keep the temp down (600w drobe grow) but now Im in flower (12/12) I dont have to worry about temps at all and my plants sleep from 8am till 8pm so if it gets hot outside during the day it really makes no difference as the light aint on.
