Hi all

I have made myself a carbon filter using 2 pc fans and some cooker hood carbon filter material. The pc fans are doing there job brilliantly but the filter material is not it stink smells! quite nice really but bit naughty to have me house smelling of mj all the time.

Does anyone know if you have to activate the filter material?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions to use as a filter?

heres a pic to show my current diy filterClick to view attachment

Cheers Dirk

As Jiffa says, you will not be able to do what you're trying to do with PC fans - you can feel the air that they're blowing around, but they are not designed to push or pull air to any great degree - they are simply not suitable for forcing air through any kind of filter, I'm afraid.

It will not work, no matter what kind of filter material you try in that setup.

Hi Guys

Thanks for your fast reply's

That thread is ace its just what i was looking for thanks.

Scribble: it would be ideal for me to have an rvk fan pulling thro a carbon filter but its just not an option at the mo as the box i'm using is v small and i'm trying to keep it as stealthy as poss.

I'll make do with my pc fans and try and build a filter to suit them with some activated carbon which is the main ingredient that i'm missing.

peace

sorry dirk, but you couldn't do it, AC or not. a cheap bathroom fan can be quietened down by wrapping it in a towel tho - although not ideal, it would be enough to draw air through a filter and would improve your environment 100% ph34r.gif
