I am interested in maybe fem seeds. What are the odds on hermies ?

General Consensus = Save your money, buy normal seeds and learn to sex them.

i battled with my fem seeds...nebula and grapefruit[all hermied..i think you really have to avoid any stress when growing them..i think i vegged them to long at 20hrs for 9 weeks and was moving them from one grow [400w]room into my kithchen at night[[and putting them under a 125 envirolite[to stop them flowering cause my martian where taking longer to finish so i ran out of space ..they just basically starting herming when preflowering started.. i am trying to find fault with me..but to be honest i only really grow from seed[[not a clone man]]and i have never had hermie issues except with fem seeds...also on the forums it been hugely debated...there no diffrence in the quality or taste etc...in fact there a plenty fantastic plants on this site that where fems seeds have been used...why dont you buy a 5 pack and give it a bash...i think you can even buy them single now...good luck.

Maybe it's because you grew them really well - maybe with most peoples' first few grows, the mistakes that they're probably gonna make will stress the plants, leading to lots of potential hermies/mutants which are more likely with femmed seeds?

Exactly my point. I am kinda unexperienced and tend not to get to my leccy sockets on time.......

Theres an awful lot of Fem bashing on these boards. So much so that I've given up defending them in posts like these. Thing is - not all of us have the time, space & equipment to grow batches and sex them - I wish i did!

Fem seeds suit me fine. NEVER had a hermie. Not one! For closet / stealth grows Fem seeds are perfect. For successful Fem grows you must follow one simple rule;

MAKE SURE YOUR GROW AREA IS 100% LIGHTPROOF. Even the slightest light leak during dark time WILL produce hermies. Thats why i think so many people fail with Fems on here. I've seen mates do it too - they struggle to admit it was there fault so its easier to blame the "rip off" seeds.

As well as that - Fems mean I can have 1 plant and 1 plant only with no clones or mothers hanging about & making up the numbers should my door get kicked in one morning. Clones & Mothers make a grow look "more professional" especially if you have separate veg and flower rooms / areas. The police are more likely to push an intent to supply charge on you.


Thats what I've learned anyway.

hey Mon, fems are the way to grow. but dont buy sh*t ones get intouch with your supllier and chat to him tell him your concerns, if he's any good he will steer you in the right direction. i recomend paradice seeds, they aint gona sell you things for the sake of it. 6 years of fems and no herms or males. hope this helps.. I hate fem, but I also bought some when I started growing. Try them until you've got the confidence to clone and make up ur own mind.

So judging by the comments so far fem seeds are worth it but they have to be grown with more time and care then a mixed bag of seeds.

Sounds ok to me. May yet give them a go....cool......

Reason for this post originally was that i was interested in growing opium but from what i can find they only come as Fem's from paradise...

If they need more time and care then they are definately not worth it.
If you don't mind forking out twice the cash per seed then yeah they are worth it.
Or if you're scared of having too many plants in the house or aint got enough room they might be ur only hope.

Grown only female seeds not had a hermie and have i made some mistakes in my first few grows oh yes as most people will agree , seriously take alot of what people say about fems with a pinch of salt all plants can hermie and some seed banks seem to be more hermie prone than others by the looks of things.

Personally i love em , save me alot of time for vegging and for sexing as im neigh on guranteed 1 seed = 1 unlike my Slyder f2's 10 seeds into root riots 7 popped out of 7 only 3 were girls and that took 5 weeks to sex.
