not used that exact kit but flood n drain is the best way imo, so much oxygen is pulled into the root system and if your pump fails they will survive longer than any other hydro system

By the looks it wastes a lot of height

What even dwc set ups like bubblers

IMO dripper systems are the nads

drippers?? so it aint flood and drain then???
edit to add: yeh your right owdweb- yeh its kits with clay balls that can survive longer so deep water cultchers (dwc) would be the same.
sorry

Use ebb and flood, but set your outlet pipe a little higher so as to keep a small, one inch res in the base of each pot, this helps with pump failure. You can then buy an air pump and run air into the mini res in the same way as you would run a deep water culture system, only shallower.
If you use a one inch layer of clay pebbles in the bottom of each pot, the air and water in the mini res can move easily. The solution in the mini res is refreshed with each flood cycle from the main res underneath.
This gives you the best of both worlds.

That is how it is done ^.
I have seen plants really benifit from a very shallow reso in each pot.

Anyone know anything about these systems?
Apparantly hydrogarden have had problems with the trays cracking from the weight, due to switching production of the injection moulding to China.
To solve this I have heard they've re-designed the metal frame (eazy stand) to be more supportive, and also they've changed the nutrient tank to a more low profile design to give extra height i pressume.
I'm thinking of getting one but would like to see pictures of the new design before i purchase.
Any info or pictures of them anyone?
Regards

p.s - this kit below is an American version.......

d.i.y. ... you can source all the expensive bits (res-trays) from your local garden centre/diy shop ... then just buy a load of drippers etc separate... save a bloody fortune and spend it on your environment
