hi,
i will be in brussels for a couple of hours in a few days time. can anyone recommend a coffeeshop on the dutch border near to brussels that i could nip over to for a quick smoke,
thanks.
BL
I'd go to Terneuzen mate. Nice little town with good quality bud at a nice price and it's very easy to get to from Brussels.

Other than that you could try Maastricht, about the same distance as Terneuzen but east of Brussels. Haven't been there though so can't comment on the smoke etc.

Enjoy, wherever you go.

cheers BL,
i think i will drop by Terneuzen, as i am also going to be in Bruges for a short while, it looks to be about 30 miles or so away. i looked it up and a coffeeshop called 'checkpoint' was recomended. my first idea was to drive to Tilburg from Brussels as it appears to be about 60 miles with quite a number of coffeeshops to choose from, though Terneuzen looks a lot quicker to get to and from, leaves me time to enjoy another toke.
thanks for the tip mate.

No probs biggrin.gif

Forgot to mention to make sure you buy your weed from the checkpoint. You get a ticket like on the cheese counters at tesco and go to the dealer when your number's up, it's a bit daunting as it's always busy and there's usually a few hundred numbers between the screen and your ticket but it doesn't take as long as you'd think - chill outside with a j to pass the time. I found the weed from there was all good quality and very cheap. There is another shop just across from it (Miami?? Can't remember!!) but the weed was rank, looked like dealer stuff in UK nea.gif

Once you've picked up, you can go across the road, up the bank and there's the sea and some nice spots to sit and relax.

Have fun

hi BL
so is there a few hundred people milling about waiting for there ticket number to come up? also, am i right in thinking that only 5grams per person per ticket can be purchased?
cheers mate
BL
I think it's always packed as it's very popular with the Belgians/French popping over the border to score, I think it took me about 20 minutes waiting to get served.

Some places are leniant on the 5 gram rule but they refused me when I asked there. When you get your ticket, wait for a few people to take some and then take another so you don't have to wait long to get back to the counter for another 5g.

nice one BL,
sounds exactly like what i was looking for. yahoo.gif smoke.gif

ok.. so i got to Terneuzen from Bruges where i was staying for a short while. it was easy to find and took about 40minutes by car. its a big building standing on its own near the sea. it was quite busy on the friday afternoon i was there but i only had about 20 people in the queue ahead of me.
i was there for about 2hours and noticed about 300 people had been served at that time judging by the number on the electronic counter as i left. you dont have to stand around waiting to score, i went upstairs into the bar for a beer where there is a display saying what ticket number is up.
anyway the prices arnt cheap and probably comparable to amsterdam prices at the likes of de dampkring, grey area etc. i bought 5grams of super maroc for 50euros which i think was the most expensive rocky on the menu. it tastes great, is very soft and has quite a bright sociable up high.
i would definatly visit again if in the area, it was a friendly place and i got chatting with some locals from near the dutch side of the border.

cheers for the report wink1.gif what weed did they have on offer?

i'm not suprised about the prices as I guess it's mostly used by Belgians nipping over the border wink1.gif

hi, StonedBrittania,
i didnt really look at the weed menu, i find the weed at home to be better than most dutch coffee shop weed. i like to buy the imported hash, as that is something which is hard to come by these days amongst my circle.
what i did notice by the way though, you are allowed a maximum amount of 5grams per ticket, but at another counter where softdrinks, skins, etc were sold, they were selling ready rolled joints of various stuff such as haze etc, and it appeared you can buy as many of them as you like, i didnt buy any of them as i no longer smoke tobbacco.

so, not wheelchair friendly then...

what was I thinking, of course it's not wheelchair friendly, it's Holland... doh.gif

Nice people, mostly, but certainly not a country that is friendly to any type of wheelchair or crutch user.

Blue Badge Parking is far worse than one would imagine and the streets ... What can I say ... Cobbles!!!

but ... Hey! The coffeeshops are good, mostly, but I've only visited those outside of Amsterdam ... only brave enough to drive there and back at night so far ... looks like a nightmare to get to, park, and get around as a disabled person ... not that I am any longer as disabled as I was in the UK, or as ill ... thanks to good weed in good coffeeshops ... yet to find one with a vaporiser though, which looks the answer to problem with ban on smoking next year ... and also thanks to some good Dutch overqualified and underpaid 'Import' doctors, even some Drs whom I met on the street, and was examined by ... on the street - they don't waste time here, well, most of them, mostly. I've even been examined on the street and given diagnosis by medical students ... somethjng many overpaid Incompetent excuses for GPs and specialist doctors in the UK could not do over 6 years - (excus my anger but...) Prats!!!

One discovery I did make was that GPs in France are far friendlier to medical cannabis users that one would believe.
They write scripts for it and issue permits to possess and transport it as a proper medicine. Got this from a friend of a French medi-cannabis user who also said that weed and hash from/via Holland is cheaper in many of the larger French cities than in Holland, and 'easy' to find ... but no coffeeshops, which I think we all know!
