I've got a zillion midgies invading my whole house - are these annoying/dive-bombing critters harmful in my little grow cupboard?
Take care,

I'd try my best to keep em out scoobs if I were you, although they probably just want to suck on your blood and not your plants.
Don't know much about midges with indoor plants TBH. They may cause galls on trees from reading a few web pages.

Thanks J
I can't really keep them out, unless I hermetically seal myself in. I might try one of those citronella things, see if that works.
I just wondered if they could harm my little babies.
Thanks,

Put loads of sticky traps in with your plants and around the outside of your grow area, that should halt some of them.
You might want to look at getting something for repelling them from a garden centre.

There are many insects that look like midges such as scarid flies and thrips. Have a close look at your plants for signs of insect damage.

Hi Scoobs,
if it's fungus gnats you'll see them on the soil surface displaying, the males will be there strutting their stuff and generally showing the ladies what they have to offer in the conjugal department.
Those yellow traps Mr Jolly mentioned are a good idea to have around the plants anyway as they can give you an early warning or any unwelcome guests

I wish I had used the yellow traps when I had fungas gnats, would of been better for them to get stuck and die on them rather than on my plants

. Every plant had dead gnats stuck to it when harvest time came

Is it me? Or does everyone start itching/scratching whenever they start reading stuff in this forum?

Thanks for the advice.
I've got some citronella josh sticks - that stink to high heaven, they seem to have gone now, so hopefully this will keep them away..

Take care,

is there anything else that works for this? ive got loads of the little sods in my tent, id say theres about 50 or more and even though the yellow sticky tape catches some theres still loads crawling over the soil. thing is i cant really tell if they are damaging the plants, dont they only feed on blood? was thinking about the old washing up liquid in a spray botttle trick which works for green fly but im half way through bloom so cant imagine soap liquid would do the buds very good.
