hi to all !

just wanted to know if there were any particularly low odour strains out there ?

i have read that sagarmathas northern lights No 9 fits this description, has anyone grown this and if so what was it like ?

does it match the company's description?

cheers,

it's been discussed a few times yeah wink1.gif .

northern lights strains are generally regarded as being low odour although no strain is totally without odour, if you grow anything it's usually advisable to have some kind of air filter .

I've personally found white russian and shiva skunk to be not too smelly .

yes carbon filters are a must, wouldnt be without one , i was looking to further reduce the risk of detection smile.gif

I've never grown NL.
I was going to once, when, like you, I was looking for a low odour strain, but while researching it I found that for every person that reported a low odour there was another who said it stank to high heaven (counting actual grows, not rumours or 3rd hand gossip). So I never got round to it.

The NLxHaze I'm currently growing is pretty low odour, you can even remove the filter for the first month of flower.

In general, plants with more sativa influence smell less dank and more fruity, which helps. I've found stuff like C99, A11 and their family quite low odour. Well not right at the very end, but relatively speaking....

My Shivas (Durga Mata) smelt quite a lot, but they are an Afghan Skunk cross, I'm surprised to hear of low-odour Shivas! Afghans and almost all indicas have heavier, danker smells. Most anything from the White Widow family (Misty, etc.) reeks to high heaven.

Landrace sativas tend to smell very little (at least the ones I've messed around with), and quite pleasant, but they're a whole other story, grow wise.

Shiva Skunk Gert ( not shiva ) - from sensi seeds. wink1.gif

it's NL(#5 I presume) x Skunk#1 .

not very smelly plants at all one pheno has hardly had any smell at all while in flower, the others I've encountered have a slight oily smell that kinda reminds me of the smell of the rubber innertubes for my pushbike but it's not very strong and you have to rub the bud with your fingers to catch a scent of it. .... once dried and cured they all take on a more fruity odour and taste that reminds me of pineapple flavoured sweets .

nice weed good for beginners too - it's pretty bomb proof.

My Experiences
Lowryder - smelly
Northern Lights from female seeds.nl - smelly
Bubbleicious from Nirvana - STINKS (didn't get bubblegum phenotype)
Grapefruit - from femaleseeds.nl - amazing fruity, but still had that tell-tale cannabis smell underneath

thanks to all who responded it's great being able to get other members views this prompted me to get seedsman northern lights as it was half the price of the sagarmatha nl no 9.

i have grown nl(nivarna) before but i had only just started growing and was a complete novice(still learning) so it will be good to really concentrate on this particular strain,as i had far too many varieties and no experience to boot, so we shall see..............

hey lisa i have had the pleasure of the bubblegum pheno ,2 from one pack(nivarna)and it was scrummy just what i was looking for unfortunately i did not keep a mum.... smoke.gif would you grow out the pack again to get the desired pheno? or opt for the th seeds / serious version ?

gert lush - it's a pity as i am into my indicas at the mo due to the desirable characteristics : stoned, short and squat and relativley short flowering time, i fancy a change as what i have been smoking at the moment is rather high in effect spliff.gif

thanks as well lizard i have had my eye on shiva skunk(sensi) for a bit and what you have said sounds encouraging biggrin.gif

has anyone grown sensi skunk (sensi seeds) ?

ttfn

I wouldn't bother with them again as the one I grew was very susceptible to Leaf Spot Fungus.
