lol.gif Hi

Here are those two bagseeds I smuggled in from Egypt. I thought it might be a true sativa in the beginning, but its been on 20/4 since germination and its started to flower automatically without going into 12/12, (this started weeks ago) so what does this tell us... that its a ruderallis variety?

Still, I don't think its entirely worthless, can see thc forming (not much) and its slowly flowering. Guess I'll have to wait and see the end result, but would love to hear your thoughts now! I know its difficult to say, but what do you think, will it turn out to be shit smile.gif

That looks like one of those 'terrorist plants'.

Tell me, why do you hate our country and our freedoms so much?

Runs !!!

No, not the killer skunk !

They look nice mate, shame they are not in bigger pots doh.gif

Strains frokm near the equator don't do the whole 12/12 thing apparently. Makes sense considering there is less variation in day length through the seasons.
d|t
Yeh, does seem to fit the ruderalis profile.

Worthless on its own then sleep.gif

Just for fun, How would I breed this strain 50/50 with something? say if I put POG pollen onto her, will the result be 50% pog and 50% rud? And, if im NOT breeding for the auto-flowering trait, then what other traits do ruderalis have? Nothing?

cheers
massacre
No it's not a ruderalis profile.

You are growing a landrace sativa indoor..it's not as easy as hybrid cool.gif that's not an autoflowering strain.

For pollenation, do you have some egyptian males? that would be the best hypothesis..keeping true the strain...after that first step you can try everything with it.
d|t
thanks massacre! got me excited now, landrace sativa eh tongue.gif sounds good thumbsup.gif
(but if it isn't a auto-flowering strain, then why are they flowering in 20/4?)

I do have the original seeds... about 35+ left, though I had 3/15 success rate last time.

cheers.gif
massacre
I think the container's size can be responsible as well as some others factors. Those landraces doesn't grow naturally in your growroom environment and they need adapted light period to be done properly...I don't mean i wouldn't have made the mistake but that with landraces genetic, you had to know the strain before doing it well...So you need to grow it, grow it again and again.
When you know it, you can manage it at is best....It's quite hard but worth it. smoke.gif

Some friends have grown an egyptian strain last year.

Hi man, yep they're still growing ok. How did your mates plant turn out? Was it a decent smoke?

Not sure what to expect rofl.gif Perhaps later on in the year, I'll give breeding a go, always wanted to cross something but never got round to it, any plans/help/advice appreciated smile.gif I have loads of seeds left.

felix_dzerjinski
That's coming along really nicely now. Way to go.

Interesting you should say that, I've got some Kerela bagseed that also has really atrocious germinations rates. This time I've had to split the seed cases by hand and plant the kernel in the compost, managed to get 3 sprouts from 8 seeds but only 1 survived. Have you managed to increase your germination rates at all with these seeds ?

Thanks,
Felix.
d|t
Cheers FD smile.gif Will let you know the results mate, yeh I am lucky, got them from 2 young arab blokes in a horse and cart, paid £10 for it, only a few bits of buds was in it, but loads of stalks & seeds as well, so I was more than happy about that than the actual weed! stoned.gif

They wouldn't accept a tenner first of all though, kept pointing at my watch lol.gif No way were they having that, so I walked away after a few mins, then one of them followed me and then accepted the cash for the goods.

Before that though, I actually bought real fresh horse shit as well, this fat arab bloke with black teeth made me on edge, saying the police were on the look out for him and kept hurrying me to cough up, so instead of me looking inspecting the product before I handed over the money, I just gave him the money and walked off, only realised 2 mins later I bought dung, did I see him again?? Yes, I did... But as soon as we made eye contact and he knew I was coming to get him, he gave his horse a good whip and that was the last I saw of him, he was lucky too lol.gif

Felix, 3-4 cracked out of 15+ iirc, pretty low sucess rate, only 2-3 of em survived (1 was lacking vigour, so I gave it the good news, should of kept it really, might of been a male) pinch.gif

I have not tried germinating anymore since but when the time is right, I'll germ some more. The remaining seeds look like they have been sun damaged, can see slight cracks and a few un-developed green seeds. But hoping to get a least 1 male this time to carry on the genetics, I won't be cracking any until I have an extra room up and running.

They look great Smokey, how long have they been flowering in that pic?
Fat Freddy
How did the original bud smoke?
d|t
i don't know how long exactly, but a good few months from seed. (germed around may?)

the smoke was decent, it didn't blow my head off as such, it was just right. I can remember just smiling to myself thinking about random thoughts, but I can't really remember much though sorry.

im no good at smoke reports tbh lol.gif all I know it was decent enough at the time. (and appreciated wink.gif )

I'll post a better report when they are properly grown & ready thumbsup.gif
d|t
few more pics,

trics are starting to really form now spliff.gif

It's an interesting plant there Smokey.

It's got quite a North African shape don't you think ? Somewhat similar to Lebanese & Moroccan plants. Any idea on when you think it might be ready ?

Thanks,
Felix.
d|t
hey man, I have no idea about genetics, but it does interest me. can't wait to try it.

maybe 3-4 weeks left?

Thanks,

That's what I was thinking as well, an immigrated strain from Africa perhaps. I was however more convinced I may have been a highland sativa there.
d|t
cool! should be interesting

so it is a 100% sativa, but how do you know if its a landrace or not?
and if it is a landrace, whats need to be done with it?

thanks all
felix_dzerjinski
I seem to remember from Robert Connell's Hashish that most Egyptian weed was traditionally grown outside the country and imported from either Greece, Turkey, Lebanon or Syria and those were Sativa strains. I'm fairly sure he also said that Moroccan kiff was Sativa as well but not 100% on that, I can check when I get home tonight if you're really interested. It doesn't seem to have those phat Indica leaves. Whatever it's going to be a far more interesting smoke than most Dutch weed.

QUOTE

Preserve that genetic line, chances are no one else in the UK has it and you are the sole guardian of it's line over here. A little breeding experiment perhaps ?

Felix.

Thanks felix for information mate, got me all excited now. w00t.gif When I get my new shed up and running, I'll plan a little breeding project... but I need to read first, any particular breeding books you recommend?

And I Hope i do get a male in those seeds, should be able to keep it true then. thumbsup.gif

haha, only missing letter was "t".

I was actually thinking it looks like my Ethiopian Highland unsure.gif
It used to be one of the bricked weed that came from Africa.

Amazing the difference a single letter can make biggrin.gif
There certainly is a similarity, there were trade connections that go way back between Egypt & Ethiopia unsure.gif

I checked Clarke's book Hashish and the only thing to add Smokey is, currently Egypt grows weed in the Nile Delta, Sinai & parts of Sudan (a neighbour of Ethiopia ?), it's not made into Hashish.

Felix.
d|t
ah ok thanks for looking felix mate, appreciated. smile.gif

aventinusdampf, yes that does look similar doesn't it. Even though yours look fatter than mine lol.gif I think that's down to the small size pot I'm growing in, plus low level lighting and neglect. The similarities are certainly there though, so cheers for posting mate thumbsup.gif thanks

cheers.gif

The Egyptians grow quite a lot of herb actually. Most of it hash plant sativa.Looks like you have one there Smokey.

The most likely reason it is flowering is root restriction.

Pop the rest of the seed and find a male.

Or send them to me and I'll do it for you clapping.gif

Yeah it is interesting smile.gif

I believe it smells like tree sap, kinda piney?

Anyways, not much has changed, just more browning of pistils but one seems to be producing more crystals. (left in pic).

Thanks thumbsup.gif

Mine too is quite a long flowerer by the look of things, but I don't know if that is down to the growing conditions or other reasons... I'll just keep growing.
