i even sprayed some of them green to blend them in with the background,

I used to stick a role of wire on a bonfire to take the shine off it,then spray blotch pattern browns and greens, voila invisible unless your standing on top of one,and the added bonus the scent of fire and fresh paint served as a further though short lived deterent to bunnies :guitar:

So what's the concensus on keeping deer away these days? I read the first 5 pages but i'm too tired to read the rest after digging all day.

They're the one animal that have been haunting me for years and i just can't keep the fkrs away. I've tried coal tar soap and Pear's in the past and it doesn't work, i always seem to lose a few plants. I've tried dog hair in tights, pissing everywhere and probably some other stuff too.

Apparently mothballs are a maybe but aren't a popular choice for health reasons and nowhere seems to give a definitive answer on them working effectively anyway. Someone mentioned Silent Roar, does this work? Seems expensive but i guess it would be worth it.

Thanks in advance

I think im gonna be useing cages next year or keep em off the ground cuz my ghouse is such an attraction to toads and slugs.
I went down there this morning and saw this big old toad perched in 1 of my pots killing a purple maroc.
Then i realised another 2 marocs dead and my 2 freebies lol

I diddnt kill the toad but i might :smug:

I've gone with soap , bottles of stale piss with the tops left off and some old smellies soaked in rags and put in sandwich bags but not properly sealed so they dont dry out . 2 of my spots have a lot of deer activity and im glad to say up to now they've been left alone . Thats more than i can say for the fucking greedy bastard slugs .Eggshells copper tape and pellets and the cunts are still at it . :wallbash:
There's always a way !

I'll chime in a few; copper tape wrapped around stalks stop snails/slugs straight away, they get a shock and turn away, it's sold in the States at homeDepot and maybe Lowes they have online sales so check it out. THere is also a company that has Predator piss, it works but make this the ver last thing you do as its smell will make you say wtf. Get the sampler kit it has bobcat coyote cougar etc and switch up every couple months simply put some on a pad or cottin ball afix near your plant, it triggers flight] instincts as they don't want to be lunch! Cages are only asood as you make em, but cayenne pepper added to garlic spray helps if they do get in. In very remote spots I have fishing line attached to tin cans, sound will work for a short time. I use a perimeter fence too to lessen entries. I cover with netting late season to prevent moths from laying eggs which become worms and diaster. For molds/pm etc use Serenade early and Green Cure late it changes ph. So they don't get a foothold, also Sporicidin kills spores but don't use it "on" plants but surrounding areas or rooms only. BT is a catterpillar killer but follow directions closely. And human hair Irish Spring soap only works temporarily, imo.

i don't know if many of you are aware, but if you are growing in pots you can spray WD40 around the outside of the pots.
this will work better than any slug product on the market and in the long run its cheaper.

hi all, at one site i've grown on the last few years there are plenty of roe deer but no rabbits. i cant make big cages so i liberally throw blood fish and bone fertiliser all round the plants and sometimes a little on the foliage [to no ill affect] and have never lost a leaf to the deer. another site is overun with rabbits but no deer and the same tactic has had the same success- literally not so much as a nibbled leaf. it could be a huge coincidence of course but it seems to do the trick. i've got a site scoped out for next year that has a healthy population of small stocky muntjac deer so i'll see if it deters them-fingers crossed, enjoy your harvest everyone and good luck for next year.
