Growing fresian dew, they were 1 1/2 to 2 foot on average when planted, also the spot in on an isolated island near a reservoir, lat 51, there was no signs of animal tracks on there only a few swan and geese in the distance, sandy loamy soil not boggy at all (if this helps answer the slug part?).
Will they be ok seen as they are already a good size?
Thanks, john

Yeah stems are fairly fat, quite robust plants now, as for returning to cage, its not the easiest place to get to... and on! but could do if needs be, also a water wouldn't hurt in this heat!

I wont be able to get back there until next weekend at least. is it worth going back if theyve been exposed for this long?
They were looking great and out in this weather at their size with good soil I was hoping for a good result. be pissed if i got there and they'd been munched!!

Geese can fly over an 18" cage - so he'll have to build an 8'x8'x8'ft cube around them .

Hi m8 theres a lot of natural food for the geese about at the mo so you might get lucky but i would just surround each one with a piece of wire netting to a reasonable hieght.

On a serious note , get some chicken wire, make some cages ( as in most diaries) and save your plants.
Like now. .
Don't even wait for morning.
The geese don't care that it's gone midnight and you wanna chill.
They'll be munching away.
Nah.
But tomorrow, get out and get it sorted.
