May be a bit technical for some, but here is a scientific article proving the benefits of weed. Heres a link.

I'm convinced that herb has helped me in loads of ways and especially with helping my brain, my outlook on the world, my ability to learn and apply the learning etc. I'm also convinced that alcohol does the complete opposite.

Only works in chronic (daily/ long term) use at high doses though, best get smokin

I like how science looks at drugs objectively, listing nocotine and alcohol alongside opiates and cocaine "Hippocampal neurogenesis is suppressed following chronic administration of the major drugs of abuse (including opiates, alcohol, nicotine, and cocaine)."

I could go on a rant about how this highlights the shortfalls of our society but y'all know already, that's why you're on this forum

I think you are right about alcohol, afair it absorbs nerve impulses in the brain. That can't be good surely.

The herb has helped me in many ways, my world would be much more limited without it  .

Good article, seems to be getting to the point that they cant keep calling cannabis a class B drug, shouldnt even be illegal IMHO.

I believe it can unlock potentially dormant areas of our thinking
Smoking the herb breaks down the walls of convention and takes us closer to our natural free thinking minds.
Society conditions our minds, instills boundaries and maintains limitations on us all and then while the effects of a few tokes last......our minds are free to think naturally just like our furry ancesters did !

what are the implications?

“This increase in hippocampal neurogenesis underlies the mechanism of anxiolytic- and andtidepressant-like effects produced by a high dose chronic HU210 treatment.”

at least two crucial points are that this increase in neuron production makes you

1. more relaxed

2. happier

does it also lead to increased intelligence and creativity?

We understood that drugs were not the health problem we were making them out to be, but it was such a perfect issue...that we couldn't resist it." - John Ehrlichman, White House counsel to President Nixon on the rationale of the War on Drugs.

"[Nixon] emphasized that you have to face the fact that the whole problem is really the blacks" Haldeman, his Chief of Staff wrote, "The key is to devise a system that recognizes this while not appearing to."

Worrying. It's only a matter of time before people smoke so much cannabis that they grow more neurons than their skull can contain. When that happens heads will start bursting all over the shop. We'd better all quit, just in case, eh?
I don't advise a haircut, man. All hairdressers are in the employment of the government. Hair are your aerials. They pick up signals from the cosmos and transmit them directly into the brain. This may be the reason bald-headed men are uptight.

No need to quit.. moderation, my friend...

I think the wider implications for this information will be seen in treating patients with brain trauma. Certain THC analogues made at Hebrew University (the HU part of HU210) have shown that they can stop the the swelling from a brain trauma.

They also gave cannabis to baby mice, which stopped them suckling from their mothers, which is an innate response. This is thought to show that cannabis alters emotions, which is something that pharmacologists rarely talk about, due to the hardness of categorizing emotion, i guess.

I think cannabis opens up them pathways in the brain and helps you to make connections which were otherwise not there, allows you to grow thought independent from the outside so much. For some people this seems to end up in confusion as you would expect, but endocannabanioids like anandamide are responsible it seems for closing off thought pathways that are causing trauma. There are more receptors in the brain associated with cannabis than any other we have found so far and our body is capable of dealing with natural substances very well. It is my opinion that using cannabis is safe.

very interesting, had me researching..
thank U this thread has opened a path of new learning :yinyang:

"When I was at the University of Arizona teaching Medical Students. I told them if they ever had a patient who was in a car accident and had severe head injury. The first thing they should tell that patient to do is to start smoking Cannabis (or ingesting Rick Simpson's Cancer Cure ALL Hemp Oil) heavily for the next 2 weeks because it would protect their Brain. It's never too late to start smoking Cannabis (ingesting Rick's Oil). Neurogenesis Stem Cells the birth of new Neurons, as you get older the number of Neurogenesis Stem Cells goes to ZERO. By the time your 60-80 years old you have no new Neurogenesis. One puff (ingest Rick's Oil) a day in aged rats (we share 99% genes), after only 3 weeks we already RESTART Neurogenesis." Interesting thoughts but alcohol is also natural and is produced to some extent by our bodies anyway, we don't seem to be able to deal with that too well though. :/
The weed things a weird one for me, on one hand it has broken down barriers and caused me to think independently and always question things, allowing me to feel like i'm responsible for every decision i make. It's made me more health conscious, more aware of my environment, helped my musical creativity and increased my interest in physics and the the world around me. On the other hand its destroyed my short term memory, made me a bit anti social and made things like maths, physics and programming much more difficult to study and comprehend. :/ However, as a daily smoker i obviously believe the good outweighs the bad so i'll probably keep smoking until the day i die :P
