Today i went to the hospital and was started on a new therapy course for tinnitus, this is a new course within the nhs and has only been going for 9 months, the girl who i had my appoinment with was one of the founders of this therapy course.

Right so basically she's dead set against the idea of if you have tinnitus your pretty much stuck with it as theres fuck all any one can do about it!

When i was told i had tinnitus after the hearing tests and mri scans the consultant back then said this to me, basically i have to learn to live with it so since then, 2 years ago, i have done, but over the last few months it has become worse, to the point where i have to come home from work as i dont feel safe up ladders because the ringing has become so intense it gives me serious head aches and the only way i can through it is by lying in bed with my headfones on.

The course is basically designd to train your hearing so the muscles in your ear, that pull on the choclea arnt straining wich is actually where the noise of tinnitus comes from, in my case the middle part of my coclear has been damaged.

So im sat hear now typing with a brand new set of hearing aids in specifficaly programmed for the hearing loss ive sufferd to due excessive and prolonged noise abuse, dj for 10+ years!

Man its weird, im hearing everything in high def, but more the higher tones, things like keys tapping, plastic bags being ruffled, knifes tapping on chopping boards etc etc, she sdaid it will take a few hrs for me to get used to it, i cant really feel them if im honest.

So the idea is the aids have been set to there lowest setting and every six weeks they will be adjusted depending on how the tinnitus is reacting to them, basically if the muscle in the ear has to strain less the tinnitus becomes less severe over time, im pretty much stuck with hearing aids now but if this works i will happily wear them for the rest of my days and im sure some members on here would to.

As an addition to the therapy im going to be using the erb along side as "j" we will call her, was very intrested when i told her that ill be doing this as she has never been able to get to speak to someone who would be willing to do this!!

I think the weed does really help, its no miracle cure but it most definatly takes you away from it, it doesnt make it stop but it just fades it away sort of thing, im pretty low on bud atm and with no grow on, im going to have to buy it but my dealer knows his stuff and his weed is always decent!

Ill be updating this as things proceed, how the tinnitus is reacting how my hearing should be improving and how the erb is having an effect along side the hearing aids!

Lets roll!!

Cheers lads, tbh J has really convinced me this could work, she's properly on top of her game, ive got to go back for a "tuning" every 6 weeks, so the next few weeks will be getting used to the hearing aids, as im typing now the ringing is as loud as it always is but nothing will change overnight, this gonna be a long haul!

I suffer with it very mildly, my hearing is still pretty good though, its really not enough to be a problem but if it were much louder I think it would drive me mental! Well done to you for persevering for as long as you have! Im guessing hearing aid tech has come along way, are these things really tiny?

I hope it sorts it for you JJ! :yinyang:

I have just recently become totally deaf in my left ear and suffer with tinitus, I have just posted something in my thread that may interest you?.

I have been discharged from the ENT specialist so I won't be having further treatment unless my GP says any different.

I will get a quote from my thread and post it up here if thats O.K with you?.

I hope you find a solution Jibbajabba, I know how frustrating it can be.

Your right, the herb does make it more easier to ignore it. A few times a day though I remember the ringing and it takes about half hour to ignore it again. Doesnt make it go away completely.

I thought it was my TV being loud at first, then I realised I could still hear it when not watching TV.

My wife has menieres disease and she gets that listening to a shell noise. She says it sounds like rushing water?
Toking is a good distraction or rather good for creating a distraction that relieves tinnitus, but it doesn't help her vertigo or sickness.

+1 for tinnitus club, mine can vary from from not being a problem to being a problem. But i guess it will only get worse, i try to wear ear plug if over exposing to music these days wish i had for last 14 years!

Th annoying thing i seem to have done is I get distortion in my right ear and other slighty strange feelings like its a broken compressor. Girls voices easily set it off so seems to be frequency dependent, its a nightmare around pissed girls and generally loud people! :headpain: The distortion does worry me.

I went to local hospital and had hearing test, results were good I could hear pretty flat to 8KHz and passed the masking test. She could not explain distortion...... I

I am interest to hear how you get on.
