Current set up is DR90 with a 400W cool-tube passive intake 4" RVK HP out going 10 meters to the exitpoint outside -
it has a crappy TT fan at the end that's not needed now intake temp 20c canopy 28c but when the TT is on it drops to 26c
Veg tent is DS60 250w CFL 4" extraction in to same room as intake + intake of above...passive intake.

Due to the light spread of the cool-tube I struggle to do 6 plants, and I smoke that too quick....
So ive been looking to get a DR80 250W HPS kit/ducting(more holes:()/another rvk to sit at the end of the 10
meter distance to the exit point....and scrap the veg tent totally...and put 4 plants in this.

Doing autos and ill have 10 plants...but running 4 RVKs more holes and a few hundred quid lighter - and the cost of running
two heaters etc

Got me to thinking - and I dont know about these things - If I scrap my 400w and cool tube and brought an coolstar
and a 600w to put in my DR90, in theory I could get 9 under there and replace the exit point extraction from the TT to another RVKHP.
bring down temps more. but not an option is spending 300+ on a 6"CF and new fans when the ones I have are only a few months young

The thing is ive researched and seen people say DR90 with 600W is possible with 6" extraction as is 5" with a 4" intake of coldfreshair.
Neither is possable right now.

But found no info about a CF-4"RVKHP--Coolstar600w--10mtr--4"RVKHP--out.
To be fair sticking a 600w in there is no cheaper than geting 250w and kit...so go safe? or not? but 600w single gives more space
and less electric use on peripherals.

What would you do? think I could get away with it? Ta

if you have the room to fit in another dr90, i'd ditch the cooltubes & use either the 80cm parabolic
or an adjusta wing reflector in each tent & run them in tandem, you could have a crop every 6-8 weeks
if you keep using the dr60 for vegging in.

or you could ditch the dr90 idea & just get a dr120 & a 600w-1000w if you have the room & cash

just ditching the cooltube, getting a decent reflector and upping the extract will increase your yields a fair bit, to much light loss on them tubes imo.

how many oz(ish) are you getting per run with the cooltube if you dont mind me asking?

Hi thanks. I have a parabolic in the cubord I was thinking of using it in the DR90, even if it adds 4c with the TT on that will be lower and more spread so worth it? hopefully time weather is to hot ill have a coolstar, could I get 9 autos in 7ltr pots under there you think? I could keep the veg tent to start them off for a few weeks cfl>250whps>400whps in a cycle no? It would increase the amount to 9 auto every 5 weeks... to the 6 regs every 9 weeks im doing now...im thinking.

Still gotta buy few rvks and a 250w hps but could avoid a new tent for now as it wont need to be bigger than a DR60 if there only in there 3 weeks...

hohum I dont know....

oh and yeild? I dont know..... dont have scales or weight it, just jar it n I smoke it but it never lasts long enough... :bong:

with seperate flowering and vegging areas raineh you just fill the flower tent back up from the veg tent as and when you take plants out, if one plant looks like it needs another week no probs you just hold back its replacement in the veg area.

try not to think of your flower area as a place where you put a set amount of plants in and then do them till they finish, one in one out is the way i go about it (of course you need to have been running a bit to have a replacement ready), if i know two are going to finish around the same time i make sure ive got two replacements ready in the veg area and so on. you can basically flower plants out and not worry about how long different strains take to finish, you dont have to take any plants a little early. you just have to make sure you pop your seeds at the right times.

was only asking about yield to try and see what your cooltube may be costing you in weight :stoned:

I run a cooltube with a 400w.

from 5 plants in the dr90 I got just over 8oz. they were sweet seeds autos. I have some sour cream, blue widow and nl bubblergummer at the moment (day 37) of flower and they look like they will yield more. I'm tempted to get the parabolic shade, but its just another expense i cant really justify at the moment. Would I just need the shade? Could I use my 400 bulb from my cooltube?

if you're doing autos I think the cycle would be every 30ish days you would get new bud if youre using a 2 tent setup. I just bought a ds60 so I can make this happen for myself.

yeah just a new shade mate with maybe a tiny bit of fettling

8oz is low for a 400w (was your tent nice and full or did you have a bit of space spare  ) but them cooltubes take a right lump of your light. i pull 12oz min off a 400 with the cheapest euro reflector in a space similar/smaller than yours.

How many plants are you running to get 12oz?

tent was packed mate with 5 mate in 11l pots. last grow I tried 11 plants in 6.5l pots and got even less. I think about 7oz, which I know is terrible. I now have 3 plants in there and its packed again. Vegged for a month and in 11l pots. plants are really big, I could do with a little more space.

I am concerned about the light spread though of the cooltube. It has these tiny shades, that do fuck all. I'm tempted to put the cooltube on ebay and buy a parabolic. Are they all the same? looking at a sunking one now on ebay thats going cheaper then greens.

3 plants 6-7 weeks veg finished in either 7.5s or 11s under a 125enviro then put under the 400 for flowering in a drobe with a 60x100cm max floorspace.

them cooltubes just tax too much of the light i reckon as i said, i dread to think of the wastage tbh :spliff:

so going back to this...

i bought a parabolic and did 4 autos and got 10oz. tent was nice and packed n'all.

im going to try your method now of vegging for 6-7 weeks then flowering and see what sort of yield i get.

i just bought another dr90, so now have 2 of them plus a vegging tent so am going to run parabolic and cooltube side by side and see what happens.
