what size ruck fan would i use please.need somthing so its good all year round.thank you for any tips.


room is brick.
2 x 600 watt.
3 foot wide
5 foot long
8 foot high.

you should calculate the size of fan required by the wattage of the light.

So you divide the wattage by 2 then add 20% to find the volume of air the fan needs to shift

so a 600w light will need a fan capable of shifting 360 cm3 and so on. Just round up to the nearest fan size available, having an overpowered fan is a good thing

Using the room dimensions is a bit subjective, using the heat source as a basis for calculation is much more appropriate as it's the heat we want to shift.

And remember that with a carbon filter your flow can be reduced by up to 50%. Go as big as you can afford and fit into your space. Oversize fans will run at slower speeds and therefore be a bit quieter but give you more adjustment for summer temps.

thanks.i am using a 8 ruck at moment for that room.but temps are low with the power.so just maybe ,i would be better getting a Fan Speed Controller and not a new ruck.i will look for one that do not buzz,.can i buy one thats plug and go thats very easy to set up without all the wire up stuff.i think this would be better choice maybe.thanks again

google:- STR - stepped voltage controller. you do have to wire em up but its pretty straight forward. no buzzing or motor hum.

Using Ruck you need a RK 200 i.e. the 8" standard fan. Use a variac controller to cut out buzzing. That fan should be good for summer grows as well.

well i have set this up today. very nice bit of kit.very happy indeed.
just one more question,i am going to order a Rhino filter.WILL it last even longer now that i have turn my fan down.and how long do one last for on 24/7. average life span ?. i have never owned one, but hear Rhino is the best.
