Today I hung a new parabolic and new 400w HPS bulb, now if I sit infront of the light for a few mins I notice it is flickering, but very fast, as if I was blinking really fast. It is also making a quiet high pitched sound, is this normal to happen with new bulbs? Maybe just needs to wear in?

E2a: I made sure it is in properly, definitely screwed in tight

The flickering seems to have stopped now, it is the just the high pitch sound coming from the bulb that is strange now.

Would you say it is the bulb that is the problem or the light fitting?

Do you have a spare bulb? If so try it.

Ok so I had my old Sylvania bulb running all day yesterday with no flickering, this morning I tried my new Osram bulb in and it is flickering.

Will it be a faulty bulb with he osram? I can't really send it back to greens as it was a few months ago I bought it and stored it.

Don't fancy buying a replacement in case it does the same but looks like I will have to.

I bought a bulb from greens and had stored it till I finished the grow I was on, around 2 1/2 months, when I put it it it blew straight away called greens and got a replacement.

thats the thing with Greens, 1st class customer service, give them a shout they can only say no. Lots of people will buy products to use later and you still have your consumer rights bud

Cool, I have just sent them an email so will see what they say.

@hazy- I have tried screwing it in tight but it makes no difference. It is such a hassle with having to wait 20 mins every time I turn the ballast off before I can re start it, ends up taking hours to test a few simple things.

Greens have sent a replacement today :) so I will try it tomorrow when it arrives.

Great service from them, I was expecting a hassle to get it changed.
