Bought a new 250w compact maxi bright digital ballast 2 days ago and after
20 hours on the ballast is feking boiling hot, you couldnt lift it with
your bare hands is this right ?

Reason i ask is whole point in buying it was it supposed to run cooler if i knew it
was going to be as hot as the sun i would have just got a mag ballast
and saved me a few quid aswell :skull:

Cheer for any help

No that doesn't seem right.

I run the 600w version (had it just over year) and I don't know if you could lift it when its heated up but you can touch it without getting burned although it is fairly warm.

Il get a pic in a few hours, i cant get to room a min as i need to go thur another room and theres some one sleeping in there.

i was thinking the same aswell about it not being a digi ballast but ive been out of the game now for over
10 years and this is the first digi light ive owned, it runs silent tho not sure what the new mag ballasts are like but the old ones i used never ran silent.

Thanks for looking in and the help il be back with a pic soon.

googled a pic looks alot like this one but mines is more grey looking and has a diffrent sticker mine has 50hz on it not sure what rest says tho.

Hi Green4me.
That looks a hell of lot like my maxibright compact MAGNETIC ballasts mate. Never seen a digital one. Not using my 250w at the mo but my 400w one gets well hot after 12 hours on. I always thought the digital ballasts would be much cooler.

Soz bud that defo isnt the Maxibright digi ballast, i run the 250wt digi and its not like yours at all man...it runs silent, runs real cool also never had a problem with heat from it...dont look like that either tbh, my digi's smaller with a solid chunky grooved top on it looks like brushed steel, its the shiz, same as Scumbags one
I have read elsewhere that the 250wt Maxi compact has big heat issues tho, so imho im betting thats what ballast youve got mate :wassnnme:
Try search for info on the compacts bud youll see what i mean :yinyang:

Well after phoning then emailing pictures to them ive had this reply.

Hi *****, Could you return the ballast to us so we can replace it with the correct one, Please use returns number ***** and please put your order number on the package. We will refund the postage for you, could you include a copy of the receipt.

Yes its nice they will replace it but im pretty pissed off now i have to send it back then wait on a replacement
while having to use the only light i have here which just aint enough watts and is going to set me back a week, on top of that im skint and having to find postage is something i didnt take into account when ordering.

Long and short of it im not happy :wallbash:

Cheers DJ same reason i dont use fleebay aswell but this was from a hydro shop cant see how they could get it so wrong and feel like they just trying it on to be honest.

Thanks again everyone for all the help :smokin:
