But rudeness, abusive language, mockery and such like is what does my nut. And personal insults, derision and so on make my piss boil too. Argue the point, don't deride or abuse the opponent.

There is a place for discussions of cryptozoology, the occult, aliens, past civilisations, etc, etc, as far as I am concerned, I have read the fortean times for decades and there is undoubtably loads of interesting and unusual stuff still to be explained, I also studied parapsychology as part of a psychology course, so was exposed to the more scientifically inexplicable, and there are some great discussions to be had. However, this area of research should be challenged to establish veracity, to rebuke enquiry is an odd position, the discussion isn't about stories or tales it is exploring if something that may be true, is actually true, which is the goal of a true paranormal researcher surely? Being protectionist about a theory and taking offence at challenges strays towards belief and faith, neither of which require proof, truth or facts, or stand up to close scrutiny when challenged.
I put my hand up for being stupid and mocking in a thread on here yesterday, and maybe it wasn't called for and I apologise, but it was a particularly ludicrous video... there are though some conspiracists who almost define themselves by their belief in something that the rest of us are incapable of seeing or understanding, poor little sheeples that we are, that position of arrogance and mocking is no better than that of any close minded challengers casting stones from the tower of "science", and is akin to religious belief. The truth is around us all to potentially see if we learn to look, every theory that has ever existed is either true or not, and the answer seekable or testable, most we will probably never see with the clarity needed but if we are wearing blinkers to start with the truth will be a lot harder to see for conspiracist or skeptic alike

There are certain posters and certain topics where the person starting them begins from an untenable position because the topic is based on highly generalised and hysterical tabloid propaganda, when this is pointed out to them they usually say they don't read the tabloids when it is perfectly obvious that is all they read, it is those posters that quickly resort to abuse, other posters that make the effort and take the time to fully explain their reasoning and present the evidence to back it up also end up being mocking and abusive when repeatedly faced with people that can not and will not reciprocate in a similar fashion through sheer arrogance and obstinate denial of reality an the plainly agenda driven and quite ridiculous assertions, I find it extremely insulting to have spent time composing a detailed and honest reply only to have the other poster present abuse and dishonest unmitigated nonsense or Ad Hominem reply, the OP says he would like to read the boards without coming across "science and logic" what an odd statement that is,
without science and logic we wouldn't have the means to be on the internet at all, or indeed have the relevant information to assist growers, perhaps he means he does not want to see "science and logic" used to counter the many bullshit assertions and statements that we see,
I don't think they ruin the board just waste their own and our time presenting bullshit they can never and have never backed up with anything but more bullshit, what does ruin the board in my opinion are people that present high falutin theories yet appear
unable or unwilling to use proper grammar and spelling, even the thread titles are often badly written and badly spelled, I wonder what non members and visitors make of it all, there is no excuse for it with spell checkers and it says quite a lot to me that some simply cant be bothered and don't care about the image it projects both of themselves and the site itself.

We've got one. We just need a 'Science, Logic and Basic Common Sense' forum to keep you lot happy.
I understand what you're all saying. About challenging people, the reasons for it and the benefit of healthy debate. I would just prefer it if you kept it to yourselves really. We dont need you're kind muddying our waters tbh.
Thanks.

I agree that skeptics are needed, just please approach it with civility lest you look like a hyperactive baboon screaming to everyone that the water is wet. Yes we know its wet, but could it perhaps also be something else?
