Can i germinate a seed then place in phd rockwool in net pots with around an inch or so of hydroton pellets at bottom of pot and just have the water bubbling around the bottom of the pot or is it better to get them rooted another way and transport to the bubbler when they have roots showing. I would much prefer to go straight to bubbler so if anyone has any thoughts they can share please feel free..

Hi Hairyscotsman,
I usually pop the seeds in small cubes and when the tap root shows put them into bigger cubes. When a root or two shows from the larger cubes then into the netpots and into the system. I usually have about 3/4 of an inch of clay pebbles at the bottom of the net pot. This suits my system as I run a RDWC that is at constant water level in the buckets. The bottom of the pots are at about water level but the cubes a little above it. I have just put some in the system 3 weeks ago they were in the rockwool in a small tent under a 125w for about 14days from putting the seeds in. They are ready to go into flower in the next few days. Some people say let a lot of roots show prior to putting into the system, I have found as soon as the roots appear is best for me after trial and error.

Best of luck cain1.
