I've used for filters for years with my J's, if you want an even smoother and more controlled smoke use the extra slim filters and if mixing with baccy 'not fags' get the smooth variety of baccy.
Also a few poundshops and wilkos do 3 pack big boxes of bull brand filters for a quid ! if you ever rolll up with a roach cus you've run out of filters, people tend to get a cough or mucus after having several like this. Filters all the way.

I've been using zwister jilters for a cpl years now a small filter with half the inside cut out so you can put a roach in
No more bits hitting the back of you throat when inhaling
Far nicer imo

I too was of the belief that smoking with a filter will take out some of our good stuff.

I smoke neat, really enjoy the taste of my herb and don't fnd it to be harsh on my throat at all. However I do get concerned about the health effetcs of smoke in general, would you guys reccommend a filter for someone like me?

i might start doing this. in fact i'll do one now with half a ciggy filter.
might as well get some use out of em.
i was also under the impression that it detracts from weedage.
i think norml did tests with filters a couple of years ago.

Surprisingly, the unfiltered joint outperformed all devices except the vaporizers, with a ratio of about 1 part cannabinoids to 13 parts tar. This disturbingly poor ratio may be explained by the low potency of the NIDA-supplied marijuana used in the study, which was around 2.3%.

Like the waterpipes, the cigarette filter also performed worse than the unfiltered joint, by about 30%. Researchers speculate this is because cannabinoids are exceptionally sticky and adhere to other solids. Hence, any filtration system that picks up particulates is likely also to screen out cannabinoids.

Disappointingly, waterpipes performed uniformly worse than the unfiltered joint. The least bad waterpipe, the bong, produced 30% more tar per cannabinoids than the unfiltered joint. Ironically, the pipe with the electric mixer scored by far the worst of any device. This suggests that water filtration is actually counterproductive, apparently because water tends to absorb THC more readily than other, noxious tars.

^I heard similar in another thread but I still don't see how filtering smoke through water can add tar. Maybe if there are doing it weight for weight, as a joint loses alot of the end and a bong helps get more smoke off less herb. But lung full for lunf full, it would seem obvious that an unfiltered joint has more tar?

Smoking through water doesn't add tar, it just performs the worst because it filters out cannabinoids instead of tar, therefore the smoke has a lower ratio of good stuff to bad stuff.

E2A - I personally don't use filters, mainly as being a tobacco smoker for that long, it makes a joint seem weak and unsatisfying... never tried filtering a neatie before, may have a go as I am trying to kick the baccy and change my smoking habits wholesale... but I can't see me taking to it. I think my original plan of just smoking less is preferable!
