Help
I'm thinking about dipping into my savings and visiting Thailand in 2012. I need cheering up and I haven't been on any adventures for a while now. Life seems a real drudge, a lot of guys have suggested I head over to Thailand for a couple or three weeks and do what I want.
How much, ball park figure, could this cost me? I mean a return flight, accommodation, internal travelling. What places are the best to set up base in?
Some travel constantly around, looking at stuff...some spend their entire time with women, and not always prostitutes...some drink and smoke on beaches...some train muay thai...I'd like to do all of those really!
Great if anyone can help who's had a good time over there.

Hi mate i payed £600 for a return flight to puket earlie this year, i was over there for 1 month training and was best holiday of my life, Highly recomand you will love it!
Cant give you a price for b and b or hotel as i stayed on camp and was all inclusive.

Chiang Mai for the Thai New Year willowisp, loadsa fun and very wet

can be as dear or as cheap as you want (excluding flights) most accomodation is priced for what you get i.e. you want air con/toilet/TV/Fridge price increases but when we were there last nov we were paying £6-10 a night for accomodation you can take a woman too ( meaning I had to adhere to my mrs cleanliness standards) on Lanta.
If organising everything yourself go to a Gov TAT they are great guarranteed and cheaper than most private travel companies for train bus or boats. Chiang Mai has a great one and like Brother Bhang says is a cracking town, if it had an ocean there I would not have returned. Mango Guesthouse in Chiang Mai used to do some cracking truffles

Chiang Mia sounds good. I want to see some culture, food, temples etc, take in a couple of muay thai shows at a half decent venue, maybe see some wildlife and jungle, and...I may as well admit...get some love too

Beaches are nice, would be good to chill for a while, but it's not essential. I've heard weed is harder to get than you think in the touristy areas, and the cops come down heavy on you? And do they still have beach parties and the like?

If your going to Thailand especially the north get your skates on,I am watching RAMBO at the moment,looks like he is hell-bent on depopulating S.E.Asia single handed

If you want cheap then I suggest Laos or Vietnam, Thailand has been done to death. If you do decide on Thailand then be very careful with regards to smoking, if you get caught then you're royally fucked, the days of paying off the police are long gone! Dont smoke in public places, especially full moon parties cause the cops are plain clothed and everywhere.

Lovin with locals in laos is a nono and I hear the minimum bribe is $500 if you want the policeman to hand your passport back. If you want to smoke head to cacun, upto 250g is classed as percy.

A good friend of mine has been out there for 8 weeks and loves it.
I did read a book though called Welcome to Hell. Which could put you off a bit. Brilliant book though.
Hope you decide to go, just gotta get up and do it.

I used to fight on muay thai shows when I was younger, along with boxing and full contact KB...I know they take the training at a leisurely pace over there but it's not my idea of a holiday at the moment 
! watching shows is on the list though...I've heard about these bar shows where tourists get up and have a go against an old journeyman, not a good idea when drunk!

im off to a wedding in 10 minutes but when i get back i will write up an extensive reply to this thread, ive been a few times, im just back 6 weeks ago, ive been all over and can point you in the direction of cheap accomodation, where to score weed safely and generaly advise you on how to have an awesome trip without spending a fortune. thailand is fucking awesome dude

If you looking to get high without the worry of getting nicked go to Cambodia, can smoke openly, Happy Pizza shop give you as much weed as you want, very cheap and can find some really good outdoor grown smoke. Thailands strict laws in relation to pot smokers really puts me off the place, I was told if the police suspect you they can take you at random and demand a piss test even if you got nothing on you. God help you if you test positive.
