To All Those Who Miss Their Dreams
Posted 21 April 2010 - 11:01 AM
I've done this a few times now - I like to have breaks sometimes - and it's always bugged the hell out of me, and something i've seen as the only real downside to smoking.
Well, I've found the solution! And quite by accident. For the last couple of weeks i've had very, very vivid dreams and it confused the hell out of me as i've been smoking every day. So I went through everything that's changed in my diet recently, and realised what it is!! When I gave up caffeine last (I have a love/hate relationship with coffee), I started drinking loads of herbal teas. In fact, I've been working my way through them, trying to find the ones I like most.
Well, the one I finally settled on was "Holy Basil" (Tulsi). Specifically, Holy Basil and Brahmi. I realised I've been drinking this stuff ever since I had vivid dreams again... and sure enough, a few searches re: Holy Basil and Brahmi reveal both are pretty much out of this world herbs that have a huge range of very positive side effects. Tulsi has been used for thousands of years for a huge range of benefits, including mitigating physical and psychological reactions to stress!!! People are using it to help asthma for this reason... and a ton of other stuff besides.
Recently scientific research has found it's a COX-2 inhibitor... COX-2 is supposedly a precursor to cancer. No surprise it's been taken in Asia for reasons of longevity for a long, long time....
Anyway, first hand evidence right here that it makes your dreams very vivid again at least... so if you miss them from your last break, I highly recommend you check this stuff out!!!

I used to take Taurine when I trained, both before exercise & bed time if I didn't have a smoke. It's gives you a lot of focus, and settles your brain down. It's used in energy drinks so you'd think it makes you alert but it does the opposite.
Thanks for the info!

It looks like this :-

It's available from loads of online stores. I've found a lot of small health shops are also pretty open minded about ordering stuff in too, if you don't want to shop online.
I've been having proper, full blown, adventure dreams of all kinds since I've been drinking this stuff, it's been great. I've been remembering them and they've mostly been semi-lucid too!! Great stuff.

I used to have many a wickedly vivid & sometimes full on lucid dreams when I was younger. Now I think I still always dream, but rarely remember them and never lucidly.
I'm going to try this Tusli Brahmi malarky, cheers eri

Particularly good with a pure spliff!
The only reason I've been drinking it up until now is the taste really, and the fact it's caffeine free! I just tried it as one of the many I've been trying. The best I'd found up until I tried this was Pukka teas (the licorice really gives them body!), but I settled on Tulsi for the flavour (obviously now i'm going to stick with it for other reasons too!!)
I tried a Tulsi variety pack (there's Tulsi + Ginger, Tulsi + Chai, Tulsi + Green Tea, Regular Tulsi and Tulsi + Brahmi) and the Brahmi was my own preference, so I bought a whole box of that. I don't know if the dreaming thing is just Tulsi + Brahmi or the others too... Brahmi certainly seems to be used to increase concentration, memory and vividness of dreams. To be on the safe side I would go for the Tulsi + Brahmi!
