What's the best way to clean it up? I have heard it can be boiled and sieved or something, is this right?

you can break it up and boil it and any hena and such will disolve into the water. then get a coffee filtre and strain it out. but watch you dont rip the coffee filter only add a small amount of water at a time. then dry and smoke the remains

Break it up into small chunks without burning it, some people grate it down with a kitchen grater. Chuck it into a pan of boiling water and let it simmer away for 15 minutes, the water will change colour if there is many water solvable contaminants or adulterants in the hash. After 15 minutes empty it through a sieve (careful not to lose the hash if it is ground up fine use a coffee filter), you could then leave it to dry on a plate or some cardboard to dry out before repressing it. You could try repeating the boiling process more than once to see if there are any remaining bits of crap left in it after the first boil.
If it still tastes off or you are not happy with it then make oil with it either with iso or butane lol .
