Uk :west Hendon Police Team Move In To Shut Down Third Drug Den Options

A SQUAT being used as a drug den in West Hendon Estate was shut down after a raid by safer neighbourhood officers.

Residents had contacted officers to flag up concerns on the empty house in Tyrrel Way being used by drug users as a squat, the third address to be raided in six weeks on the estate.

On Thursday the West Hendon SNT were joined by colleagues from Mill Hill to take back the house and secure it.

When they entered they found cannabis, scales to measure drugs on and other items used for Seargeant Carl Silcock of the West Hendon team said: “We would like to reassure residents that if you tell us the addresses that are causing problems, we will take swift action to deal with them.

“We want to deal with the small number of people on the estate whose behaviour has such a negative impact on the quality of life experienced by residents of the estate and the ward.

“We can do this much more quickly and effectively if residents pass on any useful information they have to ourselves or Barnet Homes”.

Derek Rust, deputy chief executives of Barnet Homes said: “Barnet Homes' number one priority is to protect and provide pleasant and safe environments for its residents and their children.

“We’re pleased that our partnership work with the police is helping to stamp out crime such as drug dealing on our estates.”
