This is whorled phylotaxy. Polypoidy refers to chromosome numbers - e.g diploid, haploid.

Phyllotaxy refers to the arrangement of the leaves on the stem. Cannabis usually has opposite phyllotaxy when young (Pairs of leaves opposite each other). Some plants can display whorled phyllotaxy, which means three or more growth points at each node. This was thought be a characteristic of polypoidy (E.g it is a genetic fuck up with extra chrosomes - some people say they make more yield though..) but it is unrelated.
Whorled phylotaxy usually means it is male though - a female would be lovely and bushy.

Thanks for your info has really clarified the trait for us.
We searched it some more and found a few good articles from Oldtimer.
We will have some fun with it whichever way it goes. Novelty only, see no real benefit in trying to exploit it, far better than me have probably tried. Some have reported that the trait wasn't successfully transferred.

Seeds are like present at christmas when your a kid. Only the difference being you can't cheat and figure out what presents you got before you open them. Seeds are completely random and you could get anything. That's why I like random seeds. F2 ones with variety in the genetics. I guess it's the same with landrace too. What I need to do is cross some interesting landraces and then pop all the seeds to see what I get. There would be loads of undesirable traits but there would also be near unique traits I think. Like really unusual stuff that nobody would see from the hybrids we can buy. Things like 3 cotyledons, 30 blade leaves
, 4 stems at one node. I think nearly anything can came out of a seed. That's why seeds are exciting to me. Cos I know that if I keep popping seeds, some day I will find something amazing. If I find something special I'll let it grow naturally without topping or disturbing how it grows. If it's a female, make sure you get cuttings.
I'm looking for bud which has as close to this effect as possible.

Impressive bud formation. I like traits. I've seen this sort of thing a few times but this is the most expressed one I've seen. Resinator posted it. Can't remember the strain. Pineapple x I think. He did a thread on it though if your interested. It's an old strain. An old member here did some oldtimes in 08 which had a similar effect. I called it armour plated buds because the calyx creates a type of armour effect over the pistils. I've got close but nothing like this.

I've never seen 3 of those cotyledons before though, or read about it. I'm impressed though and I like it. Be nice to see what happens with the branches and stuff.

Wow.
LIke little nuggets of gold.. Our mate who gave us the seed
is into crossing his strains and is striving for the ONE plant, he has been collecting his and other seeds for 20+ years, so we have no definate strain. I think it is exciting way to grow. We always have mixed varieties as seeds hard to come by where we are.

It's brilliant growing from odd seeds - you never know what they will be like.

Here it is! I'll take a photo of it growing out next time I see it so that you can see the three stalks changing to two. That is if the third stalk hasn't been munched by rabbits
