Hi guys, I've got some clones a while back that are apparently cheese and once I started vegging them the stems started going a deep red.
What I'm wondering is, is this a trait of cheese or am I messing up in some way (I've tried a few of ways to try cure it but I've had no luck)? |

Think my temps are okay. 24-30C (average 28C) in veg and 21-27C in flower.
Good to know it's not just me that's got reddish cheese. Thanks |

However red leaf stems and stems can be a sign of a potassium deficiency. If you have ruled out temps that would be the most likely issue if not a genetic trait. I have had red stems and leaf stems and a feed on Bloom sorted it out. It was returning just as I fed again. The strain is Haze and also appeared on Northern Lights - both in current grow. Temps were not low. Be careful not to misdiagnose though - how 'red are they'? Lack of Phosphorous will cause plant veins to turn red - usually happens in flowering...what stage u at? Good luck mate. -------------------- I'd rather be a failure at something I enjoy than a success at something I hate.

well, I'm 3 weeks into flowering (hydro) in one place and I'm vegging (in compost) some mothers elsewhere that have been going for about 2 or 3 weeks. The fact it's showing in two different places (in different methods of growing and different nutes) makes me think it's genetic, but they are from the same original mother so maybe that was stressed and they haven't recovered yet.
As for how red, well, pretty much complete red. the main stems, leaf stalks and main leaf veins are all red. Here's a pic of one mother if it helps (ignore the patches of white crud on the leaves, it's dry residue from essense spraying. also they got heavily pruned today so they look a bit stunted maybe): This post has been edited by tseuG: Jun 25 2009, 07:31 PM |

Mate here is a diary link:
http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?show...179553&st=0 this may help - the grower (markymark) has some photos up and some have red main stems and leaf stems - though not all the UK Cheese photos through the diary have redness across all growth. I haven't grown this strain so maybe post a question to markymark and see if he can help. make sure to include a link to your question. stay cool. -------------------- I'd rather be a failure at something I enjoy than a success at something I hate.
