O.K i did a bit of search on good strains for a first grow but came up pretty short.
i find the search function a little dificult on this forum.

anyway i have splashed out a basic soil grow kit with a bud box (1.2x1.2 meter) 600 wat light etc etc.
enough to get me started anyway (allthough i dont have a light for propergation yet i was thinking a small enviro until there big enough to veg out)

anyway i have done a little reasearch on strains for a first grow in spoil and i am swaying towards warlock by magus genitics.
i want a strain that will be quite forgiving and easy to grow for the first attempt but will give me good yeilds should i get it right.

also how many plants should i go for on the first attempt or should i try two different strains (i am thinking at least 6 plants in the space i have)

other strains i was considering were white lable master Kush, DNA genetics canalope haze, and mr nice seeds black widow.

any recomendations would be great.

by the way i prefer more of a sativa high than an indica stone but i know that it would be best to with at least a dominant indica on this one.

thanks in advance for the input,
J.

Almost anything to be honest in that much space (I'm assuming you have plenty of headroom and have a carbon filter ?)
Whatever you do, may I suggest you repot often and veg for a long time.
I now veg for 6 weeks, chuck out the males, repot, bend the top 8 inches, and veg for 2 more weeks so they fill out. (pro-rata - compared with my 4 plants in 1.22 x 0.5 metres, that area would need 16 females - or 32 unsexed seeds sown ! - but you won't actually light it fully with an ordinary horizontal reflector.)

Loads of us started with skunk#1 - which in theory is about 3/4 sativa - it's anyone's guess whose version is nearest the "true" original Sensi's was rather bland, taste-wise when I grew it in 2002 - but it's bullet-proof.

I will get told off for suggesting this, because it would put you on a steep learning curve in terms of reading a variety of plants' needs, but the two Canna Biogen mixes I grew were simply stunning as an introduction to the sativa end of the spectrum - but I got some respectably chilled phenos in the mix too - but it was the best cannabis I'd ever grown in over 12 years - and the most fun to grow.

With anything even slightly sativa, you will be flowering for at least 9 weeks - so maybe 17 weeks total - don't skimp on it.

You have plenty of space, I would go for getting the most fun from it.

You already have the propogation and veg light. smile.gif

You'll be robbing yourself of yield having that 600 watter gathering dust while vegging with an inferior light. For the 2nd or 3rd grow etc. when using a veg tent, well that's different but for the first grow, fire up the hps.

For the strain, getting the 'right one' is less important than avoiding the wrong ones imo. I'd ignore anything 'extra' as in extra short, extra quick, extra strong, extra yield etc. as making any of those things a priority dictates losing something elsewhere. Of all the 'medium everything' strains, there is hardly a one that will give you weed worse than what you've been buying but I daresay some of the lesser quality breeders manage it.

One thing to watch out for with soil growing is over watering. You could have mensa IQ, read not to over water and then go out and do just that. It's probably to do with first time nerves, almost impossible to sit on your hands when nervous. Those £5 moisture meters for soil are great, you get to prod the soil often so you get to 'do something' and it will help save the plants from a muddy death.

My first attempt at doing a grow as if I were a newbie with as little skill as possible involved. Like all 'first grows', it didn't go completely to plan.
