Hi guys, got a new project on the go, thought Id share it with you as there are one or two loft growers on here and you can see whats possible.
Fisrt off my loft is already done boarded plastered carpetted etc. The plan is to put a false wall on one end and artex the same as elsewhere. the door will be hidden by either a wardrobe on castors/fullsize mirror /bookcase attached to door (still undecided) any way I'll show you where Im up to.

this is the left hand side from inside as you can see its a timber studded wall with cavity insulation

Looks good mate, just out of interest did you knock a hole into the actual chimney it's self? As I was thinking about doing this but was wondering if the fumes from the gas fire would some how leak out where the extractor duct went in?

I knocked a hole in the stack in my flue (very important) and sealed with expanded foam, the ducting up the stack is 4 inch dia. the flue is seved by a redundant radiant gas fire in my front room, if you seal properly you will not get any fumes leaking, but it could affect the safety of the fire by having a 4 inch obstruction in the flue. We dont use the fire at all we use the central heating when required. It shouldnt affect the updraught too much as the flues are usually 9 inch diameter, but you would have to do a smoke test to see if it was safe to use your appliance. If your ducting doesnt protrude nto the flue and its sealed properly should be 100% mine goes up the flue as I wont be using a filter, and I need the unhindered fan to chuck it out of the top full bore as Its gonna get hot in ther. Im using tile vents and ducting to bring air in and my water tap should be fitted this weekend.
Joe

Right folks, little bit of progress, walls are plastered, textured same as original and painted on both sides. Extract fan is fitted, hopefully fitting door this afternoon. Still undecided about how to conceal the door, whether to go with bookcase, wardrobe, display cabinet, mural etc. Any suggestions welcome. Still waiting for my brides bruv rig me up a tap inside the growroom, tonight with any luck!
I've got the camera on charge so I'll put a few pics on later to show you where I'm at. I'm hoping once the doors on it'll dampen down the noise of the fan, dead giveaway at the minute, but I've not put a controller on yet so we'll see how it goes once the door is on. I've lit a smoke bomb in the room without the door fitted and the fans spot on, sucked it up and spat it out the chimney, it'll work even better with the airtight door on.
put some pics on later chaps

cheers for the vote of confidence skunkalot, bit more work squeezed in today, fitted the tile vent in the roof for the intake (while neighbours were out) and connected the ducting, now all it wants is the fan mounting on the wall.

Cheers Jimmy, the room will be put to use as soon as its finished, I've got 5 in the tent 2 weeks into flower which will be under a 600 on the left and I've got 3 in my drobe 2 weeks in, which will be going on the right under a 400. I'll be able use my drobe then for all my vegging under a 400mh. Then if I ever get turned over again, they'll be happy to find a few in my drobe and (touch wood) the growroom will be not spotted giving them the numbers they'd need to put me away.
