i am setting up a grow space under the stairs as it is the only space i have available. i have divided the space into 3 segments and i plan to put cuttings under a fluoro light in the smallest, vegging under 250w blue enviro in the middle and flowering under undecided light(probably 250w red enviro because might be too enclosed for HID) in the biggest bit. i am trying to make the most of the limited space available to me and will probably move to budbox or equivalent when money and space issues allow. i have 2 ice and 2 great white shark at 22 days and 2 northern light at 15 days to put in to begin with. they have been on the window sill so far catching the best of the sun but the bigger ones are starting to become recognizable so it is time to shift them. i dont know how i am going to deal with the issue of fan/filter i am thinking about running an air intake in through the smallest portion which would run through all of the segments and putting the carbon filter in the biggest bit next to an output fan but i am new to this and there could be something fundamentally wrong with my logic on this one. is this a sound plan?

'is this a sound plan?'

Not the best sound plan man. You not got room for a wardrobe anywhere then?
Would make your life so much easier I promise :-)

not at the minute but i will be looking into it soon. until then i may take a more simple approach and just use the biggest part on its own as i only have the 6 young plants at the moment it is only a temporary measure. just out of curiousity is it a design issue or a stealth issue that is the problem? to be honest i had thought that it may not be out of the way enough for my comfort.

if not there is no harm done as i could offer it up as shelving space and swap it for some room upstairs. space is at a premium round here as all wardrobes etc are currently being replaced with fitted units taking up all wall space and sad as it may sound i dont actually have a room of my own(annexed by my sister long ago) though i may squeeze a bud box in somewhere when i can afford one. i could have used the shed out front. nice space but would be paranoid about having it near the path where everyone walks by the house, even with a carbon filter.

ah so its a bit too low then. i think i could grow them up to 4 and a half feet or so in there though i would much rather get a bud box but having forked out for 4x1.5m of the diamond pressed mylar and some other bits i definitely feel like making something. the weed has to live somewhere i guess.

Makes no difference - a 250 watt lamp is a 250 watt lamp and you're putting 500 watts of heat into an enclosed space.
In practice, ventilation in the first instance is for the pong - a successful 250 watt grow - even a fluorescent (and I'm afraid they are a very poor investment compared to a 250 watt HPS), will stink your house out.... in the process of dealing with the pong, you will also have provided the plants with the air they need ... and 500 watts is a substantial amount of heat to shift.

I just had a brainwave (look out)

If that was my only place, then I do this... 'a Secret Skirting'... Cause obviously your gonna cover that hole with plasterboard etc

Leave it off when safe, then when guests are around... Slap it back so it hides the vents...

Velcro would work a treat for this quick operation.

Good luck biggrin.gif
