It looks like the resistance to the closing off of the Coffee Shops to foreigners is mounting magnificently ! The Dutch shop owners are freedom loving people and are not going to give up what they have achieved and enjoyed for so long without a fight. They make a whole lot of money on tourists and they are businessmen enough to value that and not just give it up. Right now it is only been put in effect in the three most southern provinces. A'dam is not currently effected or other Cities in the other provinces. The government that pushed that shit law through is no-longer in power, so maybe the Dutch, as clever and business minded as they are, will junk it. Lets hope so!
As for that Movie you mentioned, I don't know it, so can't say if it is crazy or not ;-)
Let me say just this, I know what you mean about the "Wow"-factor. But you could have that with both hash and weed, or miss it with either one too. I had a few hashes in the old days that really had that and blew your fuckin' gourd off your shoulders. But more often I had that same quality of Wow experience with top-notch Bud, from Mexico before that market got fucked up by the mid to later 70s, but very much so from Jamaica in the early 70's, from Panama and Colombia before the Colombian Market got totally commercial and volume-oriented to capture the market share of Mexican lost to eradication programs, but especially - really especially with some of the excellent Thai Sticks and Vietnamese, Cambodhian or Laoatian weed coming into the states with military personnel in the war years.
Those were Wow-quality weed that left most hash smokers absolutely astonished when they experienced them on stateside visits in those days. I had lots of fun in those days with visiting European friends - telling them, wanta smoke?, I know this is not like the high-quality hash you get in Europe but its not SO bad, besides, it is all we've got... so they would expect some slight weak-ass pitiful buzz and I often times had to literally help them walk afterwards...
Needless to say, after those types of experiences and resulting expectations, that hash was not as fresh and free from oxidation of the resin as carefully handled sinsemilla bud was, I got caught by the same false expectation trap in Europe and had to be helped to walk by European friends too... ;-) to be honest,I would love to always have both "in stock" at home like a well filled wine cellar!
