And so it begins.
Drobe I got off a mate, saving me quite a few pounds. Put it together using extra tacks and staples to ensure it is solid. Started by using gaffa tape to go over all joins, tape was fitted both inside and out. Next was to add my passive filters, 2 in total, each measuring 13” x 6”, I intend on using a 5” extraction fan so I am hoping that intake will be sufficient, if not, I can always add another vent. Carbon cooker hood filter was fixed on the inside to cover the vents. I made 2 light baffles out of hardboard, cardboard and gaffa tape, I also fitted some more cooker hood filter in them to aid light leak and also as an anti-beastie guard, I can quite easily add some more carbon filter if needed. once painted matt black on the inside, they were fitted to the drobe using gaffa tape. I am happy so far with things and am about to order a couple more bits, am aiming to get started by Christmas. Will post more as I go. Ray. |

how much would u say ur air ventalation/filtration system cost? as i have only added the passive intakes for now, cost was £3 for a tin of matt black from wilko's and £12 for the carbon cooker hood filter, not much really, the main cost will be when i get my extraction fan and filter.ray. |

So I’m waiting in today for a delivery off greens, and I paid a visit to the local builder’s yard yesterday for a couple of bits, so it was time to do a bit more.
I had gotten some 20mmx20mm beading, this was going to be fitted internally around the door. I already had an old camping roll, it’s a foam one, quite dense foam which I think will be light proof if fitted correctly. I cut it into strips, then stapled it to the beading which had been cut to size earlier. So I had a smoke, put some smooth tunes on the music box and got into the zone. So I pick up my pencil and stick it behind my ear(well you have to don’t ya), I double check that I had cut the beading right, grabbed my drill, went to put beading into position, then I realised, oh golly gosh(or words to that effect) said me as I finally noticed the a door has to have hinges and I had not allowed for them when cutting the beading. Ok, scnhitt happens, so it was back to the beginning. Take 2, I cut beading, attached foam strips, screwed everything in place, and yesss, it looks good. Wont know for sure till I get my light, but I shone a 6 battery maglite all around and it seems pretty ok, plus I am going to add some rubber strips to the outside of the doors tomorrow so I am pretty confident it will be light proof. I’m happy, will add the rubber strips tomorrow and seal the gap between the doors, and maybe even fit my shiney diamond stuff if I have time. Till next time Ray. |

New day and a bit more to do.
First I finished off the beading around the doors and painted the outer matt black. Next was to add a strip of ply on the inside of one door so that it overlaps the other when they are both closed. Simple enough, just an 8” wide strip of 5mm ply, 4” screwed to one door leaving a 4” overlap. On the inside of the other door, I stapled a strip of foam, this will form a seal when both doors are closed, well in theory anyway, wont know for sure till I get my light up and running. Next was to add rubber strips to the outside of the doors, again its to aid light loss. The rubber is simply an old inner tube, valve cut off and split along, it was pretty easy to staple it and did not take long I am confident now that no light will get through. |

So I’m still happy with things so far and decide its time to fit the shiney stuff.
Staples did the job just fine. Its starting to look like a grow room now, will finish off the shiney stuff tomorrow. That’s it for now, more as and when I do it. Ray. p.s. I’m still after some advice on my reflector…. here |

cools shit, my gear arrived a couple of hours ago, top service off greens, will defo use em again.
would appreciate any advice on fan positioning. 1 fan will be between the canopy and the light, the other i'm thinking of having beneath the pots, pointing upwards. untill i can get the funds for an intake fan, i will be using passives, so i'm thinking that having the fan near to one of the intakes might help with cirrculation. any thought?? thanks ray. |

Alright mate looking good .
just a tip ,i used gaffa tape on the edges of my drobe but after a few months it drys out and comes unstuck i ended up taking all the tape off the inside and going round every seal with white silicone sealer , it makes the seams more light tight and becouse its sealed so well your passive intake will be much more efficient . just thought id share what i ended up doing , its up to you fella all the best stickyrussian -------------------- The Good Oldtimes

so i got a bit more done today, fitted filter and fan. must admit, the fan is quite a lot bigger than i expected, still, its in and working.
next was the light, straight forward really except i will loose a bit of headroom due to the fan size. i also added some spur shelving, it is perfect for holding my fans. have got to tidy up the wires, finish the mylar off and double check everything, then i think i will be good to go. will post more pics of the finished drobe. ray. |
