Grow Tent In A Shed? Options

Hey folks.

Any advise on the following would be most appreciated.

First time grower looking to grow enough to not have to buy from someone else

I have a shed in the garden which I am thinking of putting a grow tent into. I am thinking of the Budbox Small or the Dark Room DR60 - which would you recommend? I am likely to go the NFT route with a small 250W light, etc.

Anything I should be keeping in mind before I go ahead with this? Any of you experienced growers think this idea sucks? Any feedback appreciated.

Heats gonna be a major problem for you but there are ways around this. Cold in winter, blistering in summer, I hope its a big shed? If you can build a room within the shed with insulting material you may just get away with it.

id also recommend growing in compost for your first effort mate, much more forgiving than hydro

Probably be able to avoid other biological problem too that Hydro can be unforgiving with, as your doing this in a shed...

It is about 2.5-3m x 2m x 2m

If you can build a room within the shed with insulting material you may just get away with it.

Shed is in OK shape - it is a sturdy well built shed which has been left to stand. I will need to repair a small hole in the bottom of the door and block out the small window. It is an all wood shed on blocks - no concrete or cement in the construction at all.

None present at the moment. It is directly outside my kitchen door and I am thinking of running a extension lead with a plug top on - then plug this into a kitchen socket with a trailing socket in the shed (going through an rcd adapter). Or, I am prepared to get a sparky in.

you're gonna want to put someting around the base of the shed to keep out drafts and critters... does it smell moldy in there? that's really what I'm trying to get at with all these post... Sheds can be a great place to setup if done properly, and that doesn't necessarily mean expensive... I'm planning on setting up a flower room in mine, but have decided to scrap the shed I got and build a new one... Currently a squirrel is living in it

So first things first get the shed sorted, but if it appears to be ravaged by intrusions from the outside molds, spores, fungus critters you may wanna look elsewhere to setup as the tent your gonna use will creat an environment that all of these things love, but your plants won't like it one bit...

your electric is something better left to the pros... specially if your going to use HID lighting.. I would suspect you would need more than an extension chord to power lights and everything else needed to control the environment... and another reason here to go soil over hydro.. less plugs are needed..

i agree, get a sparky in, i need 5/6 sockets,
1.lamp
2.fan
3.osc fan
4.heater(winter) or humidifier(summer)
5/6.contactor
tell him you want 3 double sockets cos your gonna put a washing machine/tumble/ freezer in there and it'll be handy, while he's there, to add a couple more for the garden etc. he wont give a shit how many sockets you put in there, more cash for him, not much but a bit more.

Yup it is moldy and stuff - I was thinking of disinfecting it because it reeks of cat spray, etc.

That sucks. Shed is, I think, my only option. I have a cupboard under the stairs in my flat but I do not know how or if it possible to get air in / out of it.

What if I made a wardrobe to put in the shed - would that solve some of the problems?

Don't go giving up on us before you break ground now... No matter where you decide to grow there are gonna be hurrdles and hoops to jump through.... get the shed sealed up and bomb it with sulphur.. Understand this too it'll take awhile before you get everything sorted to the point that you'll be comfortable with it.. I've been working on mine for almost a year now, and I still got lots and lots to do... It's always a work in progress, and even the best of the best have their weaknesses... Just remeber when you get into this if you feel like your spending too much time on it think about all the time you've spent looking for weed in a dry spell.. That normally puts me back into high gear...
