Hey guys, Just wondering if there's anyone on this forum that has figures to show which reflective material is best for growroom walls ? Like the % of light that they reflect ? thx.

The way I look at it you only really need a foot or two of anything from the reflector to the canopy - since leaves tend to move to suck up the light.
I used vinyl silk in my present cupboard - which breaks all the rules but is very practical. I also sometimes use foil - which is pure heresy. -------------------- 2 x 250 watt HPS plus compost and tap water.

That's the conventional wisdom, but I've seen no evidence at all.
Perhaps it's because my lamps aren't very powerful ? And mylar is short for aluminised mylar This post has been edited by compostverte: Jan 11 2008, 10:34 PM -------------------- 2 x 250 watt HPS plus compost and tap water.

mylar = 99% reflectivity
white plastic , 80% alu-foil was sth like 65-ish % if i recall correctly YET in some situations , like thick brick walls, i would chalk up walls with whithe chalk every year... the pores of walls tend to hold and release humidity , which stabilizes, allowing u to grow just as fat nugs i dont know about polystyrene sheets,% wise, but they diffuse light very nicely ..and are perfectly white.. so there u go (white paint also strilizes a bit , by locking up all that is on the wall...cleaning with 5%bleach in water before painting is always good though) hope this helps This post has been edited by Yoda Indica: Jan 11 2008, 11:42 PM |

QUOTE "Mylar" as an acoustic/thermal insulation material has gained some public attention due to its unfortunate involvement in the Swissair Flight 111 crash as the material was found to be flammable in the subsequent investigations. QUOTE The investigation identified eleven causes and contributing factors of the crash in their final report. The first and most important was: Aircraft certification standards for material flammability were inadequate in that they allowed the use of materials that could be ignited and sustain or propagate fire. Consequently, flammable material propagated a fire that started above the ceiling on the right side of the cockpit near the cockpit rear wall. The fire spread and intensified rapidly to the extent that it degraded aircraft systems and the cockpit environment, and ultimately led to the loss of control of the aircraft. Who would have thought Mylar had such a horrific past ? -------------------- |
