Its been a while since my last grow (3+ years!) and I used to use the OT1's guide on here that it seemed everyone favoured at the time. This was a 50/50 mix of perlite and allmix (or Westlands advanced plus) in 3" pots then going straight all mix in 6" and finally 11 litre pots then using Biobizz nutes when switching to 12/12 at around 4 weeks when roots are showing at the drainage holes (even though most people seem to be using far smaller pots as their final size)

After a bit of browsing it looks like the general consensus these days is OT1's Plant Magic range which I'm looking forward to seeing the results from since the man in a legend in my book so I'm happy to buy anything that has his name on! I undestand the PM soil is very different to Allmix and is a light mix and also contains Fytocell.

With the Fytocell added do I still need to add any Perlite to the PM soil for my first pots when hatching my seeds? I still have half a bag from my last grow and it gave me a sense if security when using it before to make sure there was enough air getting to the first roots.

Finally I am going to purchase all my plant magic stuff this week so that I am ready to go. Plan on 8 plants and therefore need 2 packs of 50litre soil, will one bottle grow and one if bloom be enough for my whole grow. Also posts I've read recommend the Granules and the Bio Silicon which I'm happy to give a go as per the recommendations. Is this the general concensus or should I go the whole hog and go for the Cataylst and Root stimulant as well, or even nothing but thr nutes alone?

Thanks for any help, love this site even though I don't have the time to read or participate as much as I'd like, let alone thank OT1 and everyone else for their expertice enough!

I'd ditch the perlite, there are far better alternatives like coir.

No need for perlite. The Fytocell is doing that job.

Get the full range yes, also get the Veg Boost that's used at each pot up. They all do a job! Just might be worth mentioning the Root Stim isn't organic but lots of us use it anyway.

Good luck mate, the PM's range makes it piss easy! Just use all the aditives at like 1/3 of recommended dose lol it's strong! Less is more and all that!

If you want to jazz up the soil a bit then go to B&Q and get some Verve Rock Dust! Here's the topic and a picture of the product packaging: http://www.uk420.com...dpost&p=3024643 :hippy:

Thanks, looks like plant magic will see a lot of the contents of my wallet but to me any money spent is all worth it in my book!

Will one bottle of grow and one of bloom be enough for my whole grow? May as welk make one big order rather than be running out half way through.

Yes, a little seem's to go a long way. Likely get two grows out of them both.

As far as additive side goes, it's probs best you get the smallest bottles to start off with.

In my experiance it needs low doses of Oldtimers Grow as well, it has very little in the compost it's self. It does have organic growth stimulant though, they are Humic and Fulvic acid. The roots love love the compost and it really is a nice and airy mix with not very little in the way of lumps and bark in it.

And if u use 6.5l final pots, which IMHO are plenty big enough unless ur growing monsters, then 1 bag of soil would jus do it.I agree with everything said by DGF. I've got the whole PM range & can't rec it enough. Top quality stuff, all of it. Can't vouch for the Essence as I use something else similar, but Peeps on here rate it and that's good enough for me! Welcome back to growing. What are you about to grow, strain wise? And set up? ATB with it whatever your doing, reds.
