from Scotland myself.. i fish the natural minnow only for brownies.. been fishing for over 20+ years.. the thing is tho.. its not the same as it used to be.. no wonder the natural minnow was banned in Scotland.. it used to be lethal.. we used to go as far as setting up fly rood & reel.. once we got the boat out.. we would put on the spinning reel and fish the minnow :guitar:

used to get plenty hehehee.. fished for Salmon a few times.. yet to catch 1 .. missed a few :wallbash:

fav loch... Loch Arkaig :guitar:
When i 1st read this i was unsure about the minnow being totaly banned. So i put it to the fishing forum. Have a read of this. CR http://www.flyforums...d-scotland.html

Here's another fisherman.

I'm pretty much an alrounder and enjoy a few days a year on charter boats around the South Coast.

Spend a fair amount of time coarse fishing mainly for Barbel and Chub etc on my local Hampshire Avon.

My biggest love, however is game fishing and I'm lucky enough to have lots of very good fishing locally.
Salmon are very few and far between on the Avon but when you do get lucky enough to land one, they are very special fish.

cant believe i have been a member here for years and never noticed this section !!
Probably a simple explanation! lol

I fish in scotland mainly for salmon and sea trout in the tay and esk areas.
Got some great association waters at good prices but love fishing the tay estuary with fly and sometimes spin rod.
nothing like a good sea trout on the fly 20yds from shore in a 2 mile wide estuary and not another person fishing. I used to trout fish regularly but river trout apart catching a wild sea trout or salmon is worth a 100 stocked rainbows imho. I also love fishing for pollack and macky on the fly rod and what a fight from both species when fished for with sporting tackle. I would urge anyone thats been thinking about flyfishing the sea to give it a go...just be careful clambering over rocks after a joint of G13 !!! peace n love.

Yeh man that was quite entertaining for a while, it,s amazing how people can kid there self or be misslead. I thought the comment " I think i pull a chair up and open a bottle, there,s already been some entertaining stuff said compliments of guyfromlaw lol 124 replies. I could just imagine the size of the fish in these so called places, i say imagine becuase i,ve neve known of it in my life. It was a stupid comment to make imo also the grayling be responsable for the salmon decline lol that was just bonkers. It was a disease that was the main reason for diminished stocks of salmon in the late 60,s early 70,s afaik the the farming was another eco fuck up. A few peeps getting rich at the expense of the salmon decline, the fuckers argued for years that it was no problem. I maybe wrong on this but i,m sure all the netting stations in the estuaries have been bought up afaik the drift netting was also bought over. there,s also salmon par being stocked into various rivers up and down the country, in fairness it apears to be working. fingers crossed TCD
