Keep looking. The standard Multi Purpose they produce does not get such good reports from users. Some cases of variable value and usefulness, I gather.

Cheers, I'll keep trying. I found a place near me using their tracker (thanks BluePixie) which I didn't even know existed; if they don't have it there I'll go for the Westland MP + JI which seems to be all-pervasive round my way.

Farmer, I use PM "Oldtimer" range. It knocks seven shades of you know what out of BioBizz.
Fishmix on its own, was a good feed and produced well.
But not as well as PM OT Bloom.

Thanks for the info Arnie much appreciated as always , mmm gonna have to go research the PM range i think but i definatly wanna have a go with this soil , thanks again mate...

(apologies for a bit offtopic mr layne)
To farmer g.
iirc OT1 mentioned that if you do go for OT bloom , you ought to cut the fishmx out during flower . As i recall this is because OT bloom is an all in one feed and requires no extra for best results . He said something about although the plants 'll look happy enough , the extra nutes could affect your eventual yield.

tricky to come by this compost round me , i'll havre to try the aforementioned supermarket.

Nice one ram , i remember reading that my self i think in oldskoolsmokers thread somewhere , anyways bro thanks for the heads up...

Just a word of warning, some of the places that the stockist locator find that you thought never existed, dont actually exist

I cant seem to find this stuff anywere, will need to try the supermarket mentioned (had to google the lead singer of the doors  ).

For everyone that is Westlands bashing can you post what problems youve had with it or even post in the thread i started HERE! to keep this one on topic.

Cheers

Would you recomend the use of plant magic granules, with your jab+ji?

Yes, I use them at every potting up stage.

Just to clarify, since I am on a tight budget at the moment (as always):
If I use this compost and get some granules, would I just add the granules at every potting up, with no other steps needed? Or would I need to use something like PM boost to "feed the microherd" or whatever these clever blokes keep going on about. I read a post by OT1 where he said that b&q compost (my current compost) isn't ideal on it's own for use with the beneficial organisms, and should be supplemented in order to feed them. At least I think that's what he said lol. As you can tell, I don't really have a clue about this stuff. :blushing:

To rephrase my question, would a combo of JAB+JI compost, PM granules, and PM oldtimer bloom be all that I need? I am currently using b&q mp and biobizz nutes, and feel like I could be doing better with regards to plant health and yield.

Also, regarding this soil, is it the heavy stuff with loads of sand? If so, I think I have used it once before, but only once as it was too heavy to carry home on foot, and I wasn't convinced that the floor of my drobe was up to the job lol. However, if it performs as consistently well as you say it does I will take steps to resolve these issues.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the noob questions.

I think jab, granules and pm oldtimer nutes would make a good combination. The only problem I had with jab mp was that if you rush watering it can be easy to compact the soil, something that can be sorted with better practice.

Nocturnal, its down to what you construe as "need", in the end.

I think you should be just fine without the granules, but much better with them. Then, given the use of Granules, you should be just fine without anything extra, but you would be much better using a mild dose of Seaweed extract when you have potted on. Hope that makes sense?

You can get either a pricey Cannbis specific "Root Booster", or you can just get in some Maxicrop organic seaweed extract (but don't get the one with lots of nutes added in), or some SM3 from the Organic Catalog (Google it for the web site address).

My preferred choice is SM3, its reliable, reasonably priced and works very well as far as I can see.

But none of the above are strictly "needed" as in "essential". You can grow perfectly good pot without them. But for me, they are worth the money as they do allow you to grow plants that are happier, healthier and stronger.

Erbivore is perfectly correct too, using a commercial loam based mix like this it is very important to water using either a rose or a dribbler of some sort on your watering can to prevent compaction.

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated. It's good to know I don't technically need any extras, but they do sound well worth the money, so i'll have to see what I can do on that front.

And cheers for the heads up regarding watering technique. I usually have to water slowly anyway, since the b&q stuff sets like concrete on the top layer, but i'll try to pick up a proper fine rose watering can, rather than a pop bottle with holes poked through the lid lol.

If you struggle with compacting I can recomend pm bio wetter at a ml or two per litre for the first few waterings after potting up, you dont seem to need it once the soil is well rooted but it helps to keep the hard crust away untill then.

I picked up OT bloom and granules today. With regards to the granules can I put them on top of the soil and water them in(for the plants that are in their final pots), or should I give it a miss and start next crop?
Another question Arnie if I may. I have put my speed devil in to final pots, and they have 4-5 weeks left. I'm using JAB+JI, which as I understand has feed in it. Will I need to use the OT Bloom if there is fert in the compost already and if so when?
Thanks.

If you are 3 or 4 weeks into 12/12, you should already be in final pots. Its not really best to pot up during the flowering season, as root growth slows right down after a week or two of 12/12.
But if you do, then no I wouldn't imagine you'd need nutes for at least three or four weeks. But if the plants were to look hungry, then of course.....

Where to find JAB MP + JI.

The above mentioned supermarket.
The big DIY sheds don't seem to routinely stock it, although I've occasionally seen the smaller bags in B+Q.
Garden centres that used to go under the name Wyevales (now the Garden Centre Group) might stock the smaller bags - premium price though.

Best bet are local Independent Garden Centres - before you start trekking around your local area the manufacturers website does have a handy local stockists search function - you can search specifically for stockists of particular sized bags.

edit - thanks Arnie....

Nice one Blue Pixie , I just found a stockist near me that I never knew existed
I've just picked some up , lovely little place , much better than b&q
