what happen if i had a 10 inch fan and had all the reducer pieces to use a 6 inch filter? would the fan just run out quicker? or would it cause some serious problems. Friends of mine have tried to use several reducers for fitting ducting through smaller holes etc, but have had no luck as they claim that this makes fans run slower. has anyone done what im asking? if so what was the outcome. good night much love.

The fan will smash the back doors in on the cf, if you know what I mean
You'll need a compatible cf to fit your fan. That's why they come in different sizes.

Yeah, the reducers may enable you to physically connect the 2, but the fan will be way too powerful for your cf...
You can have a larger cf than fan, but not a larger fan than cf

Your filter needs to be rated for the same airflow as the fan ....or bigger than the fan.
If the filter is smaller, it won't work properly (it will be getting more air through it than it can scrub) and will stink the place out.

I may be daft, but I'm not stupid!
