I'd been meaning to get around to making some BHO but its awkward if you live in a city & are a few floors up :wassnnme:

anyway, i've been re reading through some of Grobags threads the other week & i was getting that old urge again :naughty:
earlier today, a neighbour below had been using some spray paint in the communal stairwell & the place stank
to high heaven, I thought fuck it im bored, i'll give BHO a go & as i've got at least a dozen big coffee jars full to the brim
with trich laden quality trim saved up from the last 3 or 4 years (RSCs leb shev & mazar + anesthesia & BBBlue Cheese)

so i set things up on a big shelf next to the window in the bathroom
i also put a desk fan on the floor blowing towards the window to help blow the gas away.

I mde a diy stainless steel extraction tube last year & this is me just getting around to trying it out.

i used a 40mm x 600mm stainless Steel Tube with a 2mm wall, the inner diameter is 36mm.
a 38mm lab rubber bung, 6" bonzai fine metal filter mesh & a small jubilee clip to hold the mesh on the tube.

I've read that most folk freeze their trim before gassing it as it helps strip any THC matter
off easier but my freezer is tiny & i couldn't squeeze any trim in

so i got 2 jars & bunged them into a chopper to break everything up & i filled the tube about 3/4
of the way up & Banged 2 300ml cans of London gas through it, then it took about 30seconds before
any of the gas started to drip out in to a large bowl.

i made a mistake here with not using a coffee filter to finely filter out any plant matter
but I had to go into town earlier & i managed to get a pack of coffee filters & 2 square pyrex dishes,
i'll use them the next time i make some.

also popped into poundland & grabbed a basket with 20 cans of gas in it, a couple of members of staff
had clocked me with  a guy quickly walks over & said sorry mate, you cant buy all those,
you can only buy 3 cans at a time, just then another member of staff sticks her oar in & says He's Right,
the instructions only came out last week from head office, you can only buy 3 cans at a time so you have
to put them back & with that, she spins on her heels & walks off.

i was ready to just put the basket down where it was & leave but the guy was still close by & i asked him,
can i speak to a manager please & he points to the bird who'd butted in, so he shouts her back & i let rip,
i asked her since when has it been illegal to buy gas & do I look like a solvent abuser ?
i then said i actually feel like you've tarred me as some sort of solvent abuser as you pulled me up in
front of other customers when i was attempting to buy something legally.
im in here legitimately to buy some gas as i need it to fill a portable garden weed burner & i cant use
any weed killer outside my house as i've a couple of kids & dog who play out there all the time, thats why i need the gas. :bag:

i read someone mentioning tube thickness the other day, think it was 25mm max ?

a flat bottomed collection dish makes scraping it up much easier.

thats why i went out & got 2 22cm square oven dishes afterwards

After useing tubular extraction and flasks id have to say for best return use a flask , with the amount of trim you have to run its worth it , a 10-20 minute soak and your gonna get alot off it .
Hope your enjoying what you got , i really really love bho. :hi:

remember to give it a really good purge or you might end up smoking butane.

When you get your filters put a piece in the can end too, it helps to even out the flow of liquid through the tube.

Good point brother W! I use one in mine.

Good first experiment JH!

I recommend staying under 25mm/1in ID for a flow through column for the highest efficiency. They are easier to pack evenly and less prone to channeling.

thanks for the replies & tips, i might cut the tube in half, that way its easier to handle when putting the gas through it,
now just need to get something to keep the oil safe, any ideas on what to use for storing the oil & is it better to keep it chilled ?
i dont want to leave it at room temp in case it goes mouldy ?

i still havent got round to trying any bho but i got a bit on my fingers & it felt like glue.

& its a pity 2hi2try left, his youtube vids looked ace, wish i'd saved them to my favourites as i cant remember their name

How warm do you think it got during the purge?

im not to sure, the bowl was left sitting on a worktop in the kitchen overnight with the extractor on the low setting,
would i be better warming the bowl up if i sit on top of a pot with hot water in it, bain marie style ?

Parchment paper seems to be the best way to store bho, then in an air tight bag
then in the fridge or if its to be stored for a while in the freezer.

where do you get parchment paper from, an art store supplier ?
just search google & parchment paper is just grease proof paper

thanks Wan

i kept stirring the mix with the chop stick to burst any bubbles a few times & this morning when checking it,
i've just managed to scrape most of it off the bowl without losing an eye oe 2 after 2 blades in a cheap craft
set shattered & whizzed by, i was more concerned on where the bubble landed, i found one bit but lost the other

& i tried the lighter on the bits of bubble on the blades & it just dripped off without any sign of gas,
so i scraped it all on to a bit of clear plastic & put it in the freezer.

now i'll just batter into the hash & oil thread & do a lot of reading.

thought a wee update was in order as im absolutely love smoking this BHO

i've ran out of grass & have just started of some killers but theyre 10 weeks away at least
& luckily i had some trics left & a good bit of afghani black i got last year to help tide me over for a while
so the other night, i tried making some more bho with a cafetiere & some coffee filters with a bin bag full of trim.

i dont know how much i managed to get as i forgot to weight the bit of card before scraping the bho on it
but its a good 14g at least :smokin:

heres a pic

Posted Image

& heres a pic of the last batch, it still needs a bit of purging but i just scrape a bit onto a small
pen knife & heat it up, the small amount of gas burns of & i just smear the oil along a Joint & then i wrap
another fag paper around it to prevent my fingers sticking to it

Got a cracking wee honey jar to store my BHO, honey for honey which i thought quite apt

Posted Image

i cut the bho up & managed to get it in the jar before it started melting as its as sticky as fuck
then i put the jar into a cup with some boiling water & hopefully this'll help purging the last of the gas out.
