Does anybody know how to remove unwanted pre installed apps on a HTC sensation ?

namely face fuck and twatter :soap:

It lets you force stop/clear data/uninstall updates but not the actual app itself, if you delete the updates it just prompts you to download them again

Sorry to say that without more effort than most are willing to make, those stock apps are on your phone to stay.

You can "root" your phone and get rid of them - but (surprise surprise) that's a warranty-voider. Be sure to do your homework before rooting your phone - it'd be a bummer to brick it just because you wanted rid of a couple of stock apps.

Personally I just tolerate them showing up as updates on the market. (I'm gonna keep calling it that - "Play Store" could be the shittest name ever).

press menu
press applications
press manage applications
press the app you want to remove and a menu should come up with the option to uninstall

you need to root it to get rid

i just remove the apps from any of my screens and stop the auto updates

rooting is normally quite easy though :smokin:

have a read here mate it tells you how to autokill the apps at startup

why doesn't that surprise me

its more than a bit rude I reckon, you should be able to delete any app you want from your own phone

Woah! Slow down.
You'll be wanting pot to be legalised next!

Stupid, isn't it. You pay good money for a phone and just find yourself barred from doing perfectly normal things with it.

There's an old nerd saying that goes something like "if you can't open it, you don't own it" in response to those warranty voiding stickers over screws and panels that mean you can't get into your devices. Similar logic for the software side of things, really.

I take it most of you have the 'unbranded' HTC sensation?

I have a HTC sensation on 3 mobile and they branded it quiet a lot,

Turn the phone on or off and i have to watch a picture of a tree with a squirrel munching a nut next to it,

I have the Twitter/Shitter and face fuck installed like the rest of you as well as loads of 3 mobile bollocks, 3 tv, 3 movies, 3 this and that.

I remember back a while ago, Orange especially use to brand the phones to fuck to the point of a smart casual looking phone had a big Orange square printed on the case and Orange themed everything to a point it would actually slow the phone down.

That's when i started getting contract phones and strictly asking them to send my new phone but an unbranded one, either orange or vodafone that ass.

Why I didn't do it with the sensation on 3 I dont know, I assumed they came unbranded from 3, but I was wrong.

Least my phone hasn't got tacky big white squares with 3 mobile all over it and that runs so slow its unusable.

T-Mobil branded HTC Desire here.
Same deal though. Worthless apps, stupid branding. Thankfully no logos on the phone though.

Reckon that squirrel animation might be a "we've got your phone by the nuts" message?

Never thought about asking for an unbranded handset. I'm due an upgrade so might have a go at pushing the issue.

Definitely worth trying, I think it was vodafone that let me when i asked, I was expecting an 'the phones are branded out from factory reply' but they did it.

Only ever asked once then went over to o2 and unbranded phones apart from an 02 start up screen for like 2 secs.

Actually the branding on mine isn't all that intrusive either.
The T-Mobile logo is on for quite a long time at boot and it's written above the clock on the unlock screen... apart from that it's just their naff pre-installed apps.
The other thing I'd like about an unbranded phone is all updates to the OS should come down the line much quicker. If HTC release an update you get it without having to wait for the provider to screw with it first.

We'll see how it goes though. :)
