Most full time tokers who have ever stopped smoking for a period of time will know that their dreams appear to come back very strongly and vividly when you stop.

I've done this a few times now - I like to have breaks sometimes - and it's always bugged the hell out of me, and something i've seen as the only real downside to smoking.

Well, I've found the solution! And quite by accident. For the last couple of weeks i've had very, very vivid dreams and it confused the hell out of me as i've been smoking every day. So I went through everything that's changed in my diet recently, and realised what it is!! When I gave up caffeine last (I have a love/hate relationship with coffee), I started drinking loads of herbal teas. In fact, I've been working my way through them, trying to find the ones I like most.

Well, the one I finally settled on was "Holy Basil" (Tulsi). Specifically, Holy Basil and Brahmi. I realised I've been drinking this stuff ever since I had vivid dreams again... and sure enough, a few searches re: Holy Basil and Brahmi reveal both are pretty much out of this world herbs that have a huge range of very positive side effects. Tulsi has been used for thousands of years for a huge range of benefits, including mitigating physical and psychological reactions to stress!!! People are using it to help asthma for this reason... and a ton of other stuff besides.

Recently scientific research has found it's a COX-2 inhibitor... COX-2 is supposedly a precursor to cancer. No surprise it's been taken in Asia for reasons of longevity for a long, long time....

Anyway, first hand evidence right here that it makes your dreams very vivid again at least... so if you miss them from your last break, I highly recommend you check this stuff out!!!

That's very interesting eri, as a newish MJ convert it hadn't crossed my mind that my dreams had been affected, however I had a night off last night and had very vivid dreams.

What about cheese (the real stuff, not the bud!)?

Having just finished a pretty long break(5.5 months finished on 420 at 420pm lol ) i was really getting to grips with dreaming properly again. one period was particularly vivid(one night had a kind of vision quest thing, think jumping through trees crouching tiger style) and thinking back that was the time when i was drinking tulsi mint tea (yogi) twice a day. :yahoo:

E2A: brahmi oil is very good for the hair and scalp

I still dream even when smoking heavily I just struggle to become lucid and end up waking but I was in control of my dreams long before I started toking.

I'll try the tea, it may help with my lucid dreaming, thanks for the info.

That's very interesting eri thanks for that. I concur that for me it's one of the very few negatives of daily weed consumption.

Will have to check out that herbal tea. Although I am about to take a break from toking anyway (despite bumper harvest 1 week away!) due to imminent arrival of baby no.2 :) so mad vivid dreams ahead for me!! (and lots more sleepless nights for a while!) :( lol

Cheers

I never recall my dreams after a smoke, I sleep extremely well unless my joints are swollen and I move a limb or something. :stoned:

I used to take Taurine when I trained, both before exercise & bed time if I didn't have a smoke. It's gives you a lot of focus, and settles your brain down. It's used in energy drinks so you'd think it makes you alert but it does the opposite.

Thanks for the info!

My analgesia makes me dream like mad, weed or not :stoned:
But I might try this tea as well, could be entertaining

I got mine from a local health shop, not Holland and Barrett though!

It looks like this :-
Attached File  Tulsi_Brahmi.jpg (10.15K)
Number of downloads: 174

It's available from loads of online stores. I've found a lot of small health shops are also pretty open minded about ordering stuff in too, if you don't want to shop online.

I've been having proper, full blown, adventure dreams of all kinds since I've been drinking this stuff, it's been great. I've been remembering them and they've mostly been semi-lucid too!! Great stuff.

Well, that is very interesting.

I used to have many a wickedly vivid & sometimes full on lucid dreams when I was younger. Now I think I still always dream, but rarely remember them and never lucidly.

I'm going to try this Tusli Brahmi malarky, cheers eri :smug:

Cheers for that Eri, been getting interested in using herbs recently as an alternative, found this article it's a pretty amazing herb. What does the tea taste like I've tried myself to give up normal tea by replacing it with fruity teas but I don't like the taste. If it's so good for you tho I'm sure I'd force the odd cup down specially if it de-stresses and calms the mind!

I think it tastes great! Kinda flowery, with a distinct zing to it (a bit like green tea, but without the unpleasantness that sometimes comes with it).

Particularly good with a pure spliff!

The only reason I've been drinking it up until now is the taste really, and the fact it's caffeine free! I just tried it as one of the many I've been trying. The best I'd found up until I tried this was Pukka teas (the licorice really gives them body!), but I settled on Tulsi for the flavour (obviously now i'm going to stick with it for other reasons too!!)

I tried a Tulsi variety pack (there's Tulsi + Ginger, Tulsi + Chai, Tulsi + Green Tea, Regular Tulsi and Tulsi + Brahmi) and the Brahmi was my own preference, so I bought a whole box of that. I don't know if the dreaming thing is just Tulsi + Brahmi or the others too... Brahmi certainly seems to be used to increase concentration, memory and vividness of dreams. To be on the safe side I would go for the Tulsi + Brahmi!
