Hi guys, i've just put 4 girls in some home made dwc, and they have started to lose colour on some of the leaves. the same leaves are getting very brittle, the ec is 0.5 but i don't have a ph meter yet so can't test that. does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this?

ive been growing for years in bubblers and i dont test the ph. i also know a few growers who grow using bubblers and they dont test ph or ec, they just stick to the measurements recomended on the back of the feed bottle and they get great results. i wouldnt advise this though, im just pointing out you can get great results without testing ph or ec, it does also help that i live in an area where the tap water ph is perfect for growing weed :guitar:

i should probably add that i dont use the reservoir, i top the bubblers up individualy on a daily basis. i have a couple of tricky hazes in my current grow so i am going to get myself a ph meter. i have been growing with dwc for 5 years without testing the ph once and ive had no major fuck ups and an absolute shit load of top quality buds :smokin:

Fair enough mate and in my last place I was lucky cos HESI and the local water was match made in heaven - normal tap ph was 6.5. Hesi got it exactly to 5.8. Perfect for my coco.

I laughed my head off. But that was the first time ever. I aint leaving lol.

However I still have a meter handy :)

Thanks for the replys guys, i've grown for years in a wilma setup and never used a ph meter. I just assumed dwc would be the same, i've ordered some litmus paper now to test the ph so i hope this will solve the issue. fingers crossed

i always test my DWC with a PH and Ec meter and get it down to 5.6 -its rises by itself to 6.3 and after 2 weeks or so i change the resevoir but i know folks who add the nutes and it brings their PH down from 8.1 to 7.2 and they grow NFT with the PH right up there.

possibly the strain was local grown to cope with the water.

dunno but seen i with me own eyes more than once

i bought a ph pen after my previous posts on this thread, my tap water is usually around 7.0, when i add my feed it takes it down to around 5.8, it fluctuates a bit after a few days and i have been regulating it to keep it bang on, my plants do look a lot healthier for it :smokin:
