The white residue was just on the inside of the bag plastic not on the compost itself but it smelt strongly of manure!
Ive still potting up using it and they doin ok just wondered if its "normal" to have that white stuff on bags of compost?or is it a sign that the compost is dodgy?

I feel cheated now! Where's my white stuff??
So long as the Ladies are OK ~ everything else is just so much stale chips.

Also while i'm on here my bags had ZERO perlite in them a very little plastic bits. The original cheese is going mental in this stuff, i'm a first time user and very happy so far.

Suddenly, its vanished from round here. Can't get it for love nor money. So I am using either straight JAB, or Levington's multi~purpose. The latter seems to be better than the former, although I cannot say as I am that keen on either of them. Both seem to be mostly made of wood that is not fully rotted down, and a little loam/peat thrown in on top for good measure.

I've had this too. I closed and taped the bag up for a few weeks after I'd used it and when I reopened it the white mould was there. It doesn't seem to be a problem though.

A little nutrition light, perfect for seedlings but will probably have you feeding veg nutes a week or 2 earlier than normal. Very high quality consistency, open, crumbly texture. Largely peat and sand, get a bag of pure JI and mix 40pct JI and 60pct Jacks (a little verm if you use it) and you have a rocking compost mix.
