Evening AS,

Were "brothers in arms" with our Blues... im day 34 (from cuts)!!!

I'm still setting up this space really and need to raise the light more and sort out the circulation, but even with the heat stress and lack of food for the middle girl, they look OK:

Posted Image

If the double serations are a Sk#1 hand me down, and translate to something good, i think my #5 pheno has it is spades!

Posted Image

What do the stems look like on your phenos AS?

Of the 3 fems i got (out of 5 beans), I have 3 quite seperate distinct looks... one very thin and leggy (#5 airpot front left), one, (in comparison) thick and bushy (right, square pot) and a 3rd, bang in the middle (er.. middle pot).... VRG made a comment that none of them looked like they had any Blueberry in them, so im guessing they are all Blues/Livers dominant...does one express that in particular??...#5?? If somebody who has the original cut (arnold??) could maybe comment...

Posted Image

The smell is firstly, burned matches/rubber....quite fucking horrible TBH... but rub the buds and its like fruity sweets..... DELISH

At the end of the day, all that matters is that what both you and i choose as keepers, do what we, individually want them to do, but understanding traits and inheritance is mighty interesting nontheless....

Chair man god dam there looking bad ass for 34 days. Much fuller nugs than mine. :bag: Seeing all those heavy nugs supported on those skinny stems makes me think I fucked up by over trimming some shoots. Most of my blues 7fems(from a 10 pack) are Skinny stem ladies , I topped them about the 5th and 6th node, so the main stem Is quite thick on all them its the side shoots that seemed weak on most. 5 are a skinnier pheno, I was a bit heavy handed on the super cropping of these girls and lost a couple branches that way :wallbash:. The other 2 are fatter stemmed and are supporting the much more thicker and developed nugs, I have one that smells minty, there's feck all on that plant. Another few smell fruity and one a little cheesy. I grew my smiles exactly the same way, dodgy structure , etc :russian: but they look much more vigorous and quite uniform, with thick heavy stems all round :guitar: . Anyone of the smiles would make a good mother I reckon :smokin:

Cheers chairman for popping in :guitar:

Good luck and best wishes till the end :afro: :bunny: :band:

Thanks for popping by superx , Im very happy how things are going , always learning, my environment is fairly tied down now but I do have a problem with getting a plants structure right. Ive shapped the clones of these ladies alot different to how there mums from seed look. They all have 3/4 main shoots but were starting to get big so I topped them again. I hope they dont get too big there fairly much 5 more weeks till there's space for them in the flower tent :wassnnme:

Cheers dude..

If you grew from seed, they will be slower to mature than clones...and of course a photo with a flash will highlight the white pistils against the greenery, so they look good... in "reality", i'm sure we aint that far apart...

I took the bottom half of the leaves and growth away in week 1-3 of bloom and topped a couple of times in veg, so probably not far off what you did.

My Smiles were also much thicker in the stem dept... Clipper material! :thisbig: Didn't need support at all IRRC...

On my Blues, the stems are really quite thin though (espec #5) and need yo-yo's for sure, the thinest stems i have seen in my limited canna growing experience..... next run, i will put a "support net" in ( to act as a replacemant to Yo-Yo's or stakes)

Be good to see how we both progress over the next few weeks.

Ahh I didn't know plants from clone are faster at maturing, thanks for that. I will update every week or so. Would be well into comparing how we get on, im going looking for your diary now , apologies I haven't had a look at it yet, I often miss things on this site. :spliff: :shuriken:

May have to copy ya and attempt a scrog on the blues clones, is there any pheno like the smile that supports itself and has thick stems? Arnold and Farmer G know there blues , they might chyme in :guitar:

Hey AS,

Sorry, no diary as yet.... still in the construction phase of my new area.............early on, i had a bit of an accident, so progress has been slow... i have been able to get a grow going, but getting it dialled in, never mind documenting properly hasn't really been a flyer!

Happy to chime in to your thread though..

No SCROG... All i want is a loose frame that keeps my plants in order instead of stakes/yo-yo's etc.... i grow in a coverted IKEA drobe, so have plenty of available accesories to convert to better use!

However i do plan a diary, I have a tub of C3 seeds that i aim to pop and stick in a diary, the mum/clone room is done.... veg room is 90%...the flower room still needs tweaking which i can do when my blues are done, so im not far off.

Al & Chairman looking great guys keep up the fantastic work :yep:

@ Chairman : The double serrations is a Livers/Blues trait being an oldschool skunk clone which as you said your #5 is showing in abundance :D as for the thinner stems i havent grown the clone only out but i think this is also a trait from the clone Blues ??

At the end of the day im sure these will blow your mind come sampling time as its just sooooo moreish !

Had to laugh out very loud reading your burnt rubber post as years ago when i was a little youff my mother always said whenever i was smoking Livers/cheese etc it smelt of burnt rubber ! lol

Morning FG,

Thanks for that.

Of course all that really counts is what it does for me after a dry and cure, and i keep reading moreish... they are already moreish whilst growing, i cant stop looking at them!

The lineage is interesting, but knowing which side it leans also helps to push me into thinking i should grow out my Smellyberry soon to get a more BB dominant girl for balance in the Mum room. Hopefully getting 3 out of 5 ladies with my Blues, i'll have that keeper.

I'll be growing out a full pack of 10 beans next time, having just done multi strain grows before and only just recently keeping cuts... i really just have a "female" room more than a Mum room! But it's all learning, whilst (slowly!) building and dialling in my room ive had time to learn how to keep mums, take cuts and sex plants etc. whilst getting properly setup.

A little rearrange in the flower room later should allow me to raise the light more and get the temps down (hitting 32, i just need to raise it a few inch's... but getting the circ fan in a better position will help more) and those canoeing leaves under control. #1 is starting to pump up her calyxes now :guitar:

@Al How are your little cocksuckers (haven't seen Deadwood...still on my list!) coming on?

Hey FG, thanks for stopping by , always good to read what you got to say on these beautiful little cocksuckers

Speaking of which, things are looking mighty swell here in deadwood Chairman :lucky: , the girls are happy as Larry and stinking(only) when I open the tent  The Smiles are feeding on 4ml of OT bloom and sucking it up, while Ive cut back down to 3.5 on the blues, as there vibrant enough and seem happy at that for now. I have a hungry Purple power( I know meant to be grown outdoors :ermm: ) in there 2, shes looking good and smells Zesty.

The clones of the smiles and blues are still getting taller by the minute :nuke: , I'm not sure how to slow it down, Ive topped them but they seem a little stretchy :ermm:. i supercropped them a litte, which I'm way to ruff at and had to reach for the tape a fair bit.

Im just wondering if a 400w mh bulb in a large 100cm para could make the girls stretch more, perhaps its a question for a new thread.

Rock and roll, Cheers Al

Happy Paddys weekend :lucky:

Evening AS,

Good news on your little cocksuckers!! :guitar:

Are you growing out your clones or keeping one as a mum? If they are for mums, a little flouro works just fine...i have mine under a couple of T5's.

Posted Image

Here's one of my Smile Mum's:

Posted Image

She has had a fairly recent trim, bout three or four days ago i think. I'm still getting things worked out, but for me, 3 or 4 inches from the tops seems enough for a haircut every 3 weeks or so... most just get flushed down the loo :( which seems a real waste, but you can only have so many on the go!

If you are growing them on, then a 400 is fine. You want to be getting them ready for bloom, so giving them plenty of encouragement to fill out there pots with plenty light and CO2. Having a 400 bulb in a bigger shade will make no difference.

I'm pulling out my 80cm para sadly. :crybaby: It just isnt meant to go in a space that size (52 x 90!) All bondaged up....It seemed, like so many things, a good idea at the time. The heat just hangs around under the lamp, so its out and put onto the "grow gear bonyard"....but in a surprise move in the reverse direction i shade i bought years ago (i think it's a Super Nova or something) its getting a clean down and will get swapped out at lights on 10PM, so better stay off the sauce!

I have to chop the plug off the shade to get the cable through the wood in the cupboard, so im replacing the "kettle plug" connectors with "proper" plugs and sockets.

Posted Image

The connection between the male and female IEC standard fitting isnt the best and i tended to make sure they were firmly pushed together and then taped to ensure things. The replacement plugs and sockets can be fidly and the cable a little large, so i im just replacing with 13A rubber plugs and sockets, 13a fuse swapped out for 5a for 600w (3A for less).

Had a closer look at my #1 Blues at lights out and getting the first slight brown pistils...so be interesting to see when they finish. I think it was Amnesia who had his finish around day 56 or something, mine are only at Day 40 today.

Happy days head AS!!

chair....

Oh and thanks for the kind words cheezehead..

Evening Chair, dont get to juiced  before you get that work done, my head is spinning trying to work out what your at  Sounds like your making some improvements and tackling your heat problems.

If you don't mind Ill brake down what Ive done from 10 seeds of blues and 10 smile. 7 ladies from blues and 6 from smile, all currently on 12/12. I have clone of each in the veg cab, all about 2 foot now  , what I wanted to do was keep the best smile and blues and keep it as a mother( but they will probably be huge by than. Si id flower the rest, once the current batch are done and I know which ones to keep.

Now Maybe I should just clone the 2 I want to keep and than flower them all, that way I can create a couple of Bonzai mums or at least a lot smaller and more manageable.

Heres the size currently of how the clones look,

This will be hard to get your head around after a few Ales Chairman :woot:
