I am not really interested in yeild, but dont fancy wasting my time on something that is a weak smoke, or prone to hermy etc.
I am starting to regret planting it now with the lack of info available.

I can't help ya StevieRays but...
If you're talking about John Sinclair idica viper from ceres seeds I'd like to hear about yours since I got a freebie of that. It sounds good from the company info but I couldn't find anything out other than that either. I figured I'd take a shot with it in a mix of other varieties but more info would be nice.
Let it grow, help a brother out ;-)

Yeah cool, it is the one from John Sinclair, I got it as a freebie too
It is only about 1 week old but I plan on letting it grow. I will let you know how it turns out as long as it doesn't die or anything. So far it is slow to get started compared to my other strains but it is too early too tell yet.

I also got the white indica, nl x skunk#1, trans love, and skunk amsterdam all john sinclair seeds all femininzed. Did you get those too? I'm thinking I might sprout the viper, white and nl x skunk#1 in my first batch of seeds for a mother hunt. If so and I pop mine first I can post up and fill you in if you like.

The white indica is the only other one I got, would be interested in seeing how it grows if you decide to pop them
All the best.

If you click the link in my signature, you'll see she's just reared her ugly head. Se's looking a bit weak tbh, but it's early days.

Sure did StevieRays,
Just after xmas so it's about 2-2.5 weeks old with 4 sets of leaves right now and doing well. Also sprouted the Ceres White Indica freebie and it's doing just fine too, same age same size. Kind of too young to talk about except to say they definitely look like indicas. Both part of the mother hunt.
Yours is about 4 weeks or so? See any pre-flowers yet?

Did you notice a serious lack of resin glands on the plant for most of it's growth? Up until a week ago or so I was concerned since there was very little frosting. Now that the calyx's are closing up,at a fairly rapid pace, the plant is starting to frost up. Just curious if you saw the same thing.Gonna take a test bud tonite since some of the lower bud is looking ready, or at least close to it.

Yeah I noticed that with the resin, I thought it had very little resin until the end and I was surprised when I was trimming it how sticky it actually was.

Last season I grew out a number of strains looking for some keepers. Here’s some info on one of the freebies grown out. The following is from the site description with comments and then some general notes. Everything in bold type is from the site description.
John Sinclair Seeds Indica Viper Feminized
Breed: (Indica x Skunk) x Indica Flowering: 55-60 days Yield: 0.9-1.1 per Watt of light
Sex : Feminized
Type : Indica, Indica / Sativa
Flowering : Photoperiod
Genetics : Indica x Skunk) x Indica
Flowering Time : Medium
Outdoor Harvest :
Height : Medium
As a medical cannabis patient John Sinclair has always appreciated potent marijuana. The powerful Viper has an intense physical effect that relaxes you without the ‘knock-out effect’ that for instance a Skunk provides.
Ditto on the physical effect! Don’t know what a skunk provides but this thing is potent enough. Except for the fact that the plant takes 9 weeks it looks, tastes and buzzes just like an old Top 44 plant grown in the past. It could be that they both can be traced back to the same something. Anyway back to the buzz…
It gives the sensation of walking through the surf or on the moon while still allowing you to get on with your day in a normal fashion.
Walking thru the surf I don’t know about that but the moon part…. Sold!. Although it won’t knock you out if you want to go to sleep it’s easy. If you don’t want to lock down you don’t have too but it certainly didn’t beg for activity. It’s great driving weed. I usually listen to talk radio but this buzz had me listening to everything from Led to Bach to Public Enemy. Gotta love the “seek” button ;-)
Indica strains are the crop of choice in most areas around the world where hashish is produced. It is therefore no coincidence when the taste of John Sinclair Indica takes you back, in spirit, to the mountains where this variety originated.
Don’t know what the moutain weed they speak of here taste like so who knows. It has a pleasant sweetish taste, and the smoke was smooth.
John Sinclair Indica is a short, compact and fast flowering plant that abundantly produces tightly clustered, resin-covered buds that have a light but distinct herbal, almost musky scent .
NO!...to fast flowering since the thing took 9+ weeks and might have needed to go longer. Yes to tightly clustered buds, yes to light scent and as far as the resin covering…. All I can say is the plant doesn’t start frosting up well until the last couple of weeks of flowering and it isn’t very frosty. So much so that I was concerned the whole time watching it grow since there was very little resin until the end.
John Sinclair Indica has few leaves and those leaves are relatively big which makes for quick and easy cutting &
curing.
Agreed, it was a pretty easy plant to trim.
General Notes:
Since the grow space was still being put together when this plant was sprouted it was kind of abused as a youngster but didn’t seem to care. It was sprouted with 3 other strains and it was the muscle plant of the group.
Characteristics:
-fat stems
-fast growth
-didn’t seem to mind low light levels
-ate whatever it was given and didn’t show any signs of defeciency or overfeeding
-long flowering period
-heavy, got 4 ounces +. The weed was cleaned well so there is very little stem. The plant was 1 of 6 filling approximately a 3'x 3' space in the tent. This plant probably took up a little more than 2' square feet.
After I wrote the above the plant was tested further. Turns out the buzz was short lived. After about an hour to an hour and a half, you would have to smoke more to maintain the buzz or it would quickly disappear. I didn’t notice the first few times I smoked it but when attention was paid to that detail it was obvious the buzz had no lasting power. This was confirmed by others who smoked it without any suggestions or info from me.
Final Verdict- Not a keeper
I loved the type of buzz since it had a floaty, gliding thing going on but… it just didn’t last long enough. Although the plant was a heavy yeilder it also took too long to finish in my book. I wouldn’t buy these beans although I suspect that a decent plant could be found if enough seeds were sprouted.
