Any one watched Panorama just on. If what was shown there doesn't contravene FIFA's rules on racism and abuse in football I don't know what will. If some very nasty scenes aren't witness in this tournament it will be a miracle . Open anti-semitic chants, nazi salutes, violence, truly horrendous.

The whole game has gone to shit. Its not Stanley Matthews, Tom Finney et al, working their socks off and being generally good eggs. Its laundered money, over paid players, illegal betting syndicates, right wing fans, religion based division. Its a fucking sham football, it needs to sort its act out.

Yeah it's very bad over in Eastern Europe, i went a few years back over to Belarus to watch Everton play BATE Borisov and the venom that comes from the fans over there is incredible, they were lobbing flares and allsorts at one point, it was insane, i will never forget it. They just don't seem to have moved on over there even in Russia where you have quite a few black players it's just the same. The game is just a complete mess at the moment, it's the first time for ages i can say that i WON'T be watching a football tournament this summer

There is no racism in polish football ! That nice policeman said so, and those Nazi salutes you thought you saw ? that was just the fans waving :)

Haven't been paying much attention this time around, lost my faith in footy a good while ago now.

I was reading in the paper earlier something about Sol Campbell saying England fans shouldn't travel there for fears of violence etc.
I have to say Poland and the Ukraine aren't places I'd fancy travelling to as a footy fan, if England fans think they're nuts they have a rude awakening in front of them I think.

E2A - I find it ironic that Polish people would want to get involved in fascism, nazi salutes etc... do they not remember hitler?

Was thinking last night, the simple fact is that the tournament should never have been awarded to Poland and the Ukraine in the first place. I didn't see the Panorama programme, but anyone who knows a bit about football in Eastern Europe was already aware of the situation there regarding the links between football and the far right, racism, hooliganism etc (it's like it was here in the bad old days, but worse). It's just another demonstration that the folks with the power at UEFA (and FIFA) are complete fucking idiots not fit to run a country fete (and corrupt fuckers who take backhanders when deciding who gets tournaments, and on this occasion Poland and the Ukraine had the biggest brown envelopes). Unfortunately I can see trouble (some of it undoubtedly involving the group of dickhead England 'fans' who are not representative of the majority but who always cause trouble during international competitions :( And knowing UEFA it'll be us that gets the blame).

You got to say, as Boojum pointed out, that UEFA are just as bent as FIFA & Poland & Ukraine should never have got the honour of hosting these championships. After watching Panorama last night I'd put money on a few fatalities being a strong possibility if any Asian or black fans go. The scenes of ranks of Ukrainian fans chanting zeik hiel was scary indeed, especially when you consider how the far right have increased in Eastern Europe over the last few years. Glad I'm not going!
Lets hope a very charismatic polititian doesn't come a long & use all this hatred!

THIS. UEFA/FIFA at it again, next we will have the ridiculous world cup coming up in a few years in Quatar where players and fans will be expected to perform in 40 degree heat and above, like you say Booj, it's all down to money at the end of the day.

the problem you got if you ban football is that most of the male population in this country

would not have fuck all to talk about ,they would just be standing in the pub staring at the wall ,

one of them wipes the drool from his chin to mention something about work,

on the other hand

it might force men to get wound up about

something that actually matters :guitar:

some idiot of afootie fan once said to me
"oh you must be gay if you dont like footie "
my reply "me gay you satnd around with men talking and getting excited about men in shorts chasing other men about " just my 2p
