Thanks to some selfish owls I have passively smoked something that might turn you into a drug-addled psychotic – and not just me but innocent children in Ely too.

Price of salad's in supermarkets has really shot up, I think they wanted like £1.60 for 2 peppers in tesco, what a rip off!

Vape... it's been a bad year for food crops. Everything costs more. Just be glad you're one of the ones facing the problem of expensive peppers in a shop and not one of the ones facing the problem of your rice harvest rotting instead of drying, your spuds rotting in the ground or empty shelves.

That and the price of fuel adding to the transport costs. Growing your own is the way forward as prices are not going to come down.

Forest Dog - probably the most important words in the English language... "food security".
Without that you're living on hope alone. No thanks!

Ratdog - have a look at the offerings of the Victoriana nursery. They aren't certified, but they are otherwise organic and have a pretty interesting range, including Chiltepin which is touted as being the parent of most modern chilli varieties. Looks like a pain in the arse, but I'm thinking of growing it some time.

That site has one of the best/most varied selections of peppers I've seen that's not a specialist pepper seed shop. Last year they actually listed a chilli that was from a completely different family (black seeds were a trait they mentioned) but I don't see it on the site.

They've got some really good selections of other things too, including a sweetcorn that's meant to be better suited to our miserable corn-growing conditions than most others.
