An agnostic thiest has no knowledge (or proof) of god but they beleive
An agnostic athiest has no knowledge or beleif
As for it being a valid viewpoint ....yes im agnostic in regards to lots of things
Thats how ive understood the meaning of the word

I disagree vociferously with my (atheist, so she says) partner on this one
She says 'don't it hurt, sitting on the fence like that'
If anything, I feel that agnosticism is heroic in it's hardcore defiance of painful chesnuts and sarky partners

Like you it seems to me to be the only rational position, anything else requires absolute certainty but without there being any concrete evidence to back it up.

I just asked
she says yeah, cos it'd be arrogant to insist that 'we' are the only ones, that evolution just happened once (or rather, just resulted in 'life' once, in ONE place in the universeS)
e2 add an S in universe, cos who knows how many of em there are

But agnosticism is absolutely not evading the question, it is taking a very real stance, the only sensible stance and the only stance that doesn't whiff of arrogance, and an absolutely valid viewpoint.
Does God exist ?
I do not know, I do not think I can ever know for certain (given that the existence of God can neither be proven nor disproven), so I cannot make a judgement either way and I would be a fool to pretend that I can, so as a result the question itself is meaningless.
Does God exist or not ?
It doesn't fucking matter. That is the ultimate point of agnosticism, not that I don't know the answer to the question, but that the question itself has no provable answer. So what is the point of even bothering with a question that has no answer ? The question itself is meaningless.
E2A Agnosticism has a pretty distinguished history as a valid area of religious opinion, far brighter people have written about it than this ridiculous drunk

edit: Notice how he says No one knows if unicorns do NOT exist. Right. But he knows that a god doesn't exist (atheist). Where is this logic now?
edit2: I think this says it all:
@theUKatheist Three positions:
1. The belief that God(s) exist
2. The belief that no God(s) exist.
3. The position that neither of the above beliefs are adequately supported, that one or the other could be true.
The first position is theism, the second is atheism. What do you call the third position?

@Seekarr I'm sorry but that made little sense to me.
How can someone not accept a belief in a God but also in no God? please repeat the question by rephrasing it to make sense. Thanks.
