Our new line of hemp and cotton blended scarves is here, just in time to keep you warm and stylish with sustainably-conscious threads.
Both the hemp and the cotton used in this new collection are unrefined and unbleached, and the scarves are pre-washed to give them a soft feel. We're also introducing new natural plant-based dyes to Hatha Krama scarves. As always, Indigofera tinctoria Linn (indigo) features prominently, but our new collection also feature Anogeissus acuminata Wall. var. lanceolata Clarke, commonly known as takean nu in thai, or axlewood in english. Indigenous to South Asia, the axelwood also grows throughout Northern Thailand, and has been used for its natural yellow / beige colour. We've also used dyes from the ebony tree (Dyasporus) , especially for its natural brown colour.
We love the warm tones brought out by our plant - based dyes, and the soft feel of our pre-washed hemp / cotton blend. Hatha Krama's new collection for Spring/Summer 2011 will make the perfect gift or addition to your own stylish wardrobe.

Don't suppose you know a similar source for fisherman trousers (with the string on back) I've found someone on eBay, but the hemp ones are only in terracotta and I think I'd look to Shaolim in them lol

I went to meet a Thai mate 2 or 3 weeks ago when we had the mild spell,sat waiting in a pub car-park when his van pulls up and he walks over with his Thai fishermans trousers,a T-shirt and flip-flops :unsure:

there are some people called Bai Fai ('cotton leaf', I think it means here) who I know do fishermans trousers in handwoven cotton, with natural dyes --- I've seen their stuff in Bangkok and Isaan... I'm not having much luck tracking down their stuff on google yet, but it looks like a few e-bay people may have it

@Bad Penny --- all-season all-terrain flip-flop wearing, it's the only way --- just can't get along with shoes/boots myself

cheers Namkha, ye I think I've seen the ones on eBay, I'll grab a pair from there :D

They are really comfortable, I wish I bought more pairs when î was in Thailand. The pair I had I donated to my pregnant friends as they make great maternity bottoms too :wink:

Oh and for anyone thinking of grabbing a scarf, I've already had a shipping conformation! Great service :yep:

nice - does it say what dyes they make it from? the thing I really like about these is they are all made using natural dyes --- indigo, tree barks, fruits etc.

Just a quick heads up that may or may not be useful to someone:

The scarves that are sold as 'Isarn check scarves' are actually Cambodian Krama, if you google search it you should be able to find them a lot cheaper, the basic ones sell for a couple of $ in Cambodia itself, or from about £6 on a popular auction site, but you can get better quality ones made from silk that are still reasonable, maybe £20-30. Check out a site called goodkrama.com for silk ones.
