this is a very nice island to travel around , if you want commercial traveller gap year scene its there, if you want to get lost walking around in the middle of the island you can do that , if you want a mx bike to explore the whole of the island then you can do that too.
It is a holiday island first and foremost so its goofd for a thre week excursion but you can escape that whenever you want and get off the beaten track.

Give the Full moon a miss though , its more of a revenue raising exercise for the police, half moon, waterfall and jungle parties are much better for music and vibe ...and be really careful with the police.
I didnt want to buy drugs when I got there so I bottled some cheese and mandy I dont think there looking for drugs coming into the country so my silly walk went unnoticed

^Mate, they most definitely are looking for drugs coming into the country. People get nicked all the time at Suvarmaphumi airport and at the land borders, usually with ice or smack. I'd rather risk buying in country than importing my own TBH, at least you can bribe your way out of a possession charge for £1000-ish, don't think it'd be so easy at customs.

I know that, but I'm just a tourist looking type with a charter ticket landing at Bangkok with a connecting flight to Koh Samui ..its a risk but I'm not trying to come into the country on a motorbike...from Burma... with a load of opium ...Like someone I know..! John ! You idiot!

Definitely not something I'd want to get into on a regular basis! Glad it's not widely available in the UK, meth-heads can be very unstable and can get extremely paranoid and aggressive.

I don't find the buzz pleasurable at all really, just makes me feel extremely wired without much happy uplift after the first couple of minutes, and very twitchy and jumpy. I'm not keen on staying awake for three days at a time either! Much prefer a bit of Mandy as an upper meself.

i would never risk smuggling anything into thailand, ive passed through bangkok airport loads of times and i always see sniffer dogs getting walked around the airport. also if you are flying to thailand from the uk then you will most likely be stopping over in dubai, another risky as hell place to be when carrying drugs, even things like prescribed valium can get you in a whole world of shit in dubai.
scoring in thailand aint that hard. head to the reggae bars or the dudes on the beaches renting out sun beds and surf boards, best places to start.

I went in 2005, stopped for refuelling in Dubia, 200 Regal King size for a fiver, wayhay I said and bought two thousand, like a few others (a load of Evertonians going to see a couple of matches in Bangkok).
We were duly nicked upon arrival at BK airport, told only 200 ciggies allowed, taken to a massive police station and locked up for about twelve hours. Then taken to a shady off license and ordered to change sterling to so many thousand baht, my fine worked out at £350, all the cigs except two hundred confiscated, then kicked out on the street, with all our bags/cases, didn't know where the fuck we were!
We ended up on the back of a tuk-tuk, looking for the Siam City hotel, (we didn't know it's pronounced Seeam), for fucking hours!
Still the best holiday I've ever had though!
And if you like King Prawns, you're in for a treat!

completely forgot i wrote that .

several years ago on koh phangan i had to pay £500 to bribe my way out of a tricky situation involving a thai girl, a canadian girl, a bag of weed and the koh phangan chief of police.
